Medal Design: ‘Lotus Blooming’

Reflecting the rich cultural heritage of Macao, China, the medal design of the ITTF Men’s and Women’s World Cup 2024 medal draws inspiration from the lotus flower, which holds significant cultural importance for the host and is the floral emblem of the region. The elegant and minimalist lines of the design, combined with an asymmetric interlace, depict the lotus flying into the sky and blossoming from every angle.

Crafted from a single piece of pure copper casting, the medal’s body is sleek, circular, and weighs up to 420 grams. Through meticulous processing including cutting, hand grinding, polishing, and electroplating, it boasts a refined and compact texture, with gold and sand spilling. The portrayal of the lotus in full bloom on the medal symbolises Macao’s enduring prosperity and resilience and signifies the success of the ITTF Men’s and Women’s World Cup 2024.
