Day 7 of the ITTF World Youth Championships 2023 kicked off with an adrenaline-fueled Singles Quarterfinals session, a rollercoaster of emotions and gripping victories. One of the standout moments of the singles quarterfinals was witnessing the sheer elation of Romanian talents Elena Zaharia and Andreu Ionescu as they secured coveted spots in tomorrow’s semifinals within their respective categories.

This thrilling start teased the excitement that would unfurl across the day in Nova Gorica. Japan’s Yuna Ojio and Mao Takamori seized the U15 Girls’ Doubles title, demonstrating their prowess against the spirited Indian duo, Jennifer Varghese and Divyanshi Bhowmick, who have consistently shone and brought pride to India throughout the event.

The U15 Boys’ Doubles, however, saw a different narrative as the Japan U15 boys, Ryuusei Kawakami and Tamito Watanabe, aimed to emulate their compatriots’ success. Despite their tremendous effort, the formidable Chinese Taipei duo, Hsu Hsien-Chia and Kuo Guan-Hong, emerged victorious, denying Japan the doubles glory.

In the U19 Girls’ Doubles final, Annett Kaufmann and Anna Hursey faced a formidable challenge against the Chinese pair, Kuai Man and Xu Yi. Annett, coming off her podium finish, partnered with Anna in a spirited quest for the gold. Despite their commendable efforts and solid teamwork, the Chinese duo’s dominance prevailed, securing them the U19 Girls’ Doubles title

The climactic showdown of the day arrived in the U19 Boys’ Doubles final, where Izaac Quek and Sora Matsushima nearly toppled the favourites, Lin Shidong and Wen Ruibo. The match was a nail-biter, showcasing relentless determination from both sides. Ultimately, China emerged triumphant in a fiercely contested battle, with Izaac and Sora delivering an inspiring performance.
