Zhou Ying and Zhang Bian combined to win Women’s Team Class 2-5. In their concluding fixture, they recorded a two-nil win against the Korea Republic outfit comprising Lee Migyu, Seo Suyeon and Shin Mikyoung to finish in first position in a group organised event ahead of compatriots Xue Juan and Li Qian; the Korea Republic trio duly concluded matters in third position.

Notably in the Women’s Singles competitions, Xu Juan had won gold in Class 1-3: Zhou Ying had emerged as the Class 4 winner with Zhang Bian claiming the top prize in Class 5.

More success for Zhou Ying and Zhang Bian, it was the same for colleagues Xiong Guiyan and Fan Lei; they combined to win the Women’s Team Class 8-10 event. Earlier in the Women’s Singles competitions Xiong Guiyan had won Class 9, Fan Lei had emerged as the Class 10 champion.

At the final hurdle Xiong Guiyan and Fan Lei, the top seeds, accounted for Chinese Taipei’s Lin Tzui-Yu and Tian Shiau-Wen, the pair who in the group stage had caused an upset by beating the Chinese combination of Mao Jingdian, Wang Rui and Huang Wenjuan, the no.2 seeds. Success by two matches to one was the margin of victory in the final.

One round earlier Xiong Guiyan and Fan Lei had overcome colleagues Mao Jingdian, Wang Rui and Huang Wenjuan by two matches to nil; by the same margin Lin Tzui-Yu and Tian Shiau-Wen had defeated Vietnam’s Nguyen Thi Hoa Phuong and Viet Thi Kim Van.

Play concluded in Jakarta, attention now turns to Lasko-Celjie in Slovenia, the 2018 World Para Championships commence on Thursday 17th October.
