Furthermore, there was no love lost. After accounting for Korean qualifiers Cho Daeseong and Kim Donghyun (12-10, 6-11, 11-4, 12-10), they experienced a most comprehensive defeat at the hands of Jiang Tianyi and Lam Sui Hang, they were beaten in three straight games (11-8, 11-5, 11-3).

Most impressive form from Jiang Tianyi and Lam Siu Hang, in the quarter-finals it had been just the same; they showed no charity as they accounted for qualifiers Kilian Ort and Qiu Dang. However, perhaps the straight games score-line was a little harsh on the young German duo. Every game was decided by the minimal two point margin (12-10, 11-9, 11-9).

Impressive from Jiang Tianyi and Lam Siu Hang, it was no different in the top half of the draw from Korea’s Jeoung Youngsik and Lee Sangsu, the top seeds.

Like the Hong Kong duo the faced colleagues; at the quarter-final stage they beat Jang Woojin and Lim Jonghoon (11-5, 16-14, 11-6), before ending the hopes of India’s Amalraj Anthony and Sanil Shetty, the no.5 seeds (11-5, 11-5, 11-4). One round earlier Amalraj Anthony and Sanil Shetty had accounted for Russian qualifiers, Vladimir Sidorenko and Grigory Vlaaov (11-8, 9-11, 11-6, 11-5).

The final is scheduled for Saturday 17th March; the contest follows the Women’s Doubles final scheduled to start at 2.30 pm (local time).
