On the eve of the XXII ANOC General Assembly, in Prague (CZE) the ITTF President Thomas Weikert, ITTF Deputy President Khalil Al-Mohannadi and the ITTF CEO Steve Dainton met the ANOC President Sheikh Ahmad Al-Fahad Al-Sabah.

The ITTF leaders discussed many issues related to the global development and promotion particularly in Asia linked to Sheikh Ahmad Al-Fahad Al-Sabah’s other position as Olympic Council of Asia President.

The ITTF President Thomas Weikert said after the meeting: “We had a very positive meeting with Sheikh Ahmad Al-Fahad Al-Sabah. The discussions were positive about the future of table tennis and how we can work closer together and to improve Table Tennis position in the Olympic Movement”.

The ITTF expressed their desires to extend the number of medals at the 2018 Asian Games in Jakarta, with table tennis being one of the premier sports in the region.

Sheikh Ahmad Al-Fahad Al-Sabah congratulated Mr. Weikert on his election as ITTF President earlier in the year and expressed his desire to support Table Tennis throughout Asia and ANOC. As a friend of the ITTF Deputy President Khalil Al-Mohannadi he felt sure the ITTF and ANOC will work closer in the future for mutual benefit.
