Present earlier this year at the Liebherr 2017 World Championships in a reporting role, Olalekan Okusan, Press Officer for the African Table Tennis Federation, has been nominated in the Sports Journalist of the Year (Print) category for the 2017 Nigeria Sports Award.

He is one of three nominations.

An award winner in 2016, the names of the successful candidates will be announced on Friday 17th November at a special ceremony staged at the Eko Hotel in Lagos.

Recently Olalekan Okusan received a letter of invitation from Kayode Idowu, the Event Director.

“The Nigeria Sports Award which is in its sixth edition was birthed to honour, reward and appreciate exceptional sports women and men who have excelled in their respective fields and have won laurels for Nigeria. Nigerians have nominated selected sports men and women in various categories deserving the award. We therefore have the honour to congratulate and inform you that you have been nominated along with others in the Sports Journalist of the Year Award Category 2017 (Print).” Kayode Idowu

Selected articles written between November 2016 and October 2017 are considered.

In 2012, Olalekan Okusan was named the Sports Reporter of the Year by the Nigeria Media Merit Award as well as the Sports Writer of the Year at the 2012 Sports Business Award.
