Impressive at the Liebherr 2017 World Championships earlier this year in Düsseldorf, when he reached the third round of the Men’s Singles event; on Thursday 21st September at the Seamaster 2017 ITTF World Tour Platinum, Hybiome Austrian Open in Linz, Hong Kong's Ng Pak Nam once again proved an imposing adversary.

The 19 year old, required to compete in the qualification tournament, in the opening round he beat Japan’s Maharu Yoshimura, the no.14 seed (9-11, 13-11, 11-7, 11-9, 11-13, 11-7).

An impressive performance from Ng Pak Nam; there was also a most impressive effort from Frenchman, Emmanuel Lebesson.

The no.13 seed, he accounted for a dangerous adversary in the guise of the Czech Republic’s Pavel Sirucek in four straight games (11-6, 11-9, 11-8, 11-7).

Success for Emmanuel Lebesson, likewise it was success for China’s Fang Bo, crowned champion four years in Austria when the tournament was held in Wels. The no.3 seed, he needed the full seven games to beat Croatia’s Andrej Gacina (9-11, 12-10, 9-11, 11-8, 11-8, 9-11, 11-4).

 

A successful end to the day for Robert Gardos, earlier partnering Daniel Habesohn, a four games win in the opening round of the Men’s Doubles event had been secured when facing Hong Kong’s Jiang Tianyi and Lam Siu Hang (11-9, 12-10, 7-11, 11-4).
