Celebrate Hugo Calderano’s advance to the last 16 by making the national cocktail of Brazil with a twist.

Hugo Calderano has spent the first two days of competition in Rio taking down the old guard of table tennis. Both Sweden and Hong Kong have been unable to resist the Brazilian star. Will Japan be next to fall?

So why not celebrate Calderano’s historic run by making yourself the national cocktail of Brazil — the Caipirinha.

Calderano Caipirinha:

  1. Take four lime wedges, two teaspoons of sugar and muddle them in your glass. Fun fact: muddling improves wrist strength — just think how good your serves are going to be after drinking this.
  2. Fill the glass with crushed ice and pour in 2oz. of cachaça. While pouring consider this Rio rumour: the Chinese national coaches have been encouraging Ma Long to drink for relaxation in preparation for the Games — that’s right, you are now training just like the world number one.
  3. Garnish with a ping pong ball floated on top for a true Calderano Caipirinha. And if you’re feeling classy, why not use a three star.
