Prominent is the seven time Olympian, Segun Toriola; he has appeared at every Commonwealth Games since table tennis was included in the schedule in Manchester, England in 2002; memorably on that occasion winning the Men’s Singles title.

Being one of the most successful table tennis players at the Commonwealth Games, Segun Toriola at 43 years of age, will be performing a dual role in Gold Coast, acting as both player and coach.

Joining Segun Toriola in the Nigerian team is the runner up at the recent 2018 ITTF Africa Top 16 Cup, Quadri Aruna. He will be making his second appearance at the Games.

Similar to Quadri Aruna and Segun Toriola, Bode Abiodun will also be returning to Games action. He was a member of Nigeria’s bronze medal winning team at the 2014 edition in Glasgow, Scotland.

Meanwhile, former Nigerian national junior champion, Olajide Omotayo, as well as Jamiu Azeez will be making their debut; Nosiru Bello will head the technical team.
