Appearing at the World Championships for a staggering 20th occasion, Ruta Paskauskiene will be hoping to do her nation proud yet again when she takes to the table in Budapest.

On three out of the last four editions of the event Ruta Paskauskiene has featured in the second round of the Women’s Singles tournament including two years ago in Düsseldorf where she beat Dutch player Kim Vermaas across five games before exiting to Chinese star Liu Shiwen.

One of the standout moments in Ruta’s glittering career came in 2008 when she emerged as Women’s Singles champion of Europe, accounting for Austria’s Liu Jia at the final hurdle. Ruta has also represented her country at the Olympic Games on three occasions, competing at Atlanta 1996, Sidney 2000 and Beijing 2008.

Over the years Ruta has also enjoyed plenty of success as a doubles player having taken home 15 medals from doubles action on the European Championships stage including four Mixed Doubles and two Women’s Doubles golds.

Competing in the Women’s Singles draw Ruta Paskauskiene will be joined in Budapest by fellow Lithuanians Kornelija Riliskyte and Auguste Melaikaite, who will also be present in the Women’s Doubles and Mixed Doubles events. Tomas Mikutis, Medardas Stankevicius and Alfredas Udra make up the country’s male contingent.
