With the spectacle of the Liebherr 2019 ITTF Word Table Tennis Championships getting underway in a little over 17 days time the ITTF is pleased to unveil the official seeding list for the year's biggest event, taking place in the Hungarian capital of Budapest from 21-28 April.

Defending her crown in Budapest, the “Queen of Hearts” Ding Ning has been placed at the summit of the Women’s Singles draw and will be the player to beat in the race to international glory.

Next up is another of China’s finest with Seamaster 2018 ITTF World Tour Grand Finals champion Chen Meng occupying the no.2 seeded position. The Seamaster 2019 Qatar Open gold and silver medallists Wang Manyu and Liu Shiwen have been seeded third and fourth.

Following the four Chinese stars in the list are Japan’s Kasumi Ishikawa and Mima Ito, seeded fifth and sixth respectively, while Chinese Taipei’s Cheng I-Ching, Japan’s Miu Hirano, Singapore’s Feng Tianwei and Korea Republic’s Suh Hyowon round-out the top ten.

World no.1 Fan Zhendong has been named as the top seed for the Men’s Singles tournament as he aims to improve upon the runner-up finish he achieved two years back in Düsseldorf.

Two further Chinese challengers in Xu Xin and Lin Gaoyuan close out the top three while Japanese teenage star Tomokazu Harimoto has been assigned the no.4 spot.

Timo Boll, who is chasing a second World Championships singles medal, is the leading European name in the seeding list in position no.5 with Korea Republic’s Lee Sangsu, Brazil’s Hugo Calderano, Japan’s Koki Niwa, China’s Liang Jingkun and another Korean in Jang Woojin taking positions six through to 10. Reigning champion Ma Long is seeded 11th.

Over in the Men’s Doubles event the Japanese pair of Masataka Morizono and Yuya Oshima lead the way and Japan also heads the seeding list in the Women’s Doubles courtesy of Hina Hayata and Mima Ito. Seamaster 2018 World Tour Grand Finals gold medallists, Hong Kong’s Wong Chun Ting and Doo Hoi Kem are seeded first for the Mixed Doubles draw.
