Staged recently in Lebanese capital city of Beirut, Qatar Sporting Club and the Egyptian club, Zamalek, won the respective Men’s Team and Women’s Team events at the Seamaster 2017 Arab Club Championships.

Proceedings commenced on Tuesday 7th November and concluded on Sunday 12th November.

Notably, it was the second consecutive year that Zamalek. represented by Farah Abdel-Aziz and Reem El-Eraki had won the title.

Success for two players who are no strangers whatsoever to the rigours of international play; it was the very same in the Men’s Team event with Ahmed Al-Mohannadi and Mohammed Abdulwahhab being the backbone of the Qatar Sporting Club success.

Second place in the Men’s Team competition finished in the hands of the El Saad Qatar with the Al-Ma’ady Club from Cairo in third position; notably for the former Ahmed Alawalqi was on duty, for the latter Mohamed El-Sobhky, both players who have experienced the rigours of international play.

Meanwhile the Al-Nadwah Al-Qumateiyah from Lebanon concluded the Women’s Team competition in runners up spot with Tunisia’s Al-Onqoud Al-Dahaby Club in the bronze medal position. Notable names on duty were Malak Khory and Manel Baklouti, she represented the Al-Onqoud Al-Dahaby Club.

At the final hurdle Qatar Sporting Club beat El Saad Qatar by three matches to two, in counterpart Women’s Team event, Zamalek recorded a three-nil win over Al-Nadwah Al-Qumateiyah

In both the Men’s Team and Women’s Team events proceedings were organised in two stages, a group phase followed by progressive knock-out.

Players from 11 countries competed: Algeria, Egypt, Iraq, Lebanon, Morocco, Oman, Palestine, Qatar, Somalia, Sudan, Yemen.
