Host in 2015 for the Mauritius Junior and Cadet Open followed by the Africa Junior and Cadet Championships; Beau Bassin in Mauritius will be the home for extensive activity as the year comes to a close.

The 2017 East Africa Region Championships will be staged from Wednesday 13th to Friday 15th December being preceded immediately by a Training Camp which is scheduled to commence on Friday 8th December.

Notably the tournament will serve as a qualification event for the 2018 ITTF Africa Top 16 Cup, scheduled to be staged in Kenya and for the 2018 ITTF Africa Senior Championships.

It is anticipated that alongside the Training Camp coach education will be organised; the expert will be former French international Laurie Phaï Phang.

Undoubtedly, it is a positive move in promoting the development of table tennis in the region; a fact of which Basanta Vimal Lala, the President of the Mauritius Table Tennis Association is well aware.

“The competition will be used as qualification for the Senior African Cup next year, there will also be a Level One Coaches Course which is open to all Eastern African Countries.” Basanta Vimal Lala

Six events will be held: Men’s Team, Women’s Team, Men’s Singles, Women’s Singles, Men’s Doubles, Women’s Doubles

The closing date for preliminary entries is Monday 20th November, for final entries it is Friday 1st December.
