Young players from Singapore have undoubtedly gained benefit from playing in tournaments on the ITTF World Junior Circuit in 2007. They were present in both Bahrain and Doha.
Now, locally, they have a further oportunity to enhance their skills.
A new project commences in Singapore at 6.00pm on Saturday 3rd March 2007 when the Joola Championship League starts in the Toa Payoh Sports Hall, the home of the National Training Centre.
The concept is that the competition combines high level, junior and recreational players in a team competition.
No less than one hundred and sixty players have enrolled in the four month event which comprises three divisions, each division with seven teams and concludes on Saturday 30th June 2007.
Opportunity The competition not only gives recreational players the opportunity to be involved in a prestigious competition, it also affords the rising young stars of Singapore the chance to pit their skills against experienced adversaries.
Young Players Young players like Zena Sim and Heng Wei Chen, who played in the recent ITTF World Junior Circuit events in both Bahrain and Doha, are competing as is Jen Lim, Jason Ho and Clarence Lee.
They will be taking part alongside former national team national team players such as Zhang Tai Yong and Seng Yew Fai.
It is a competition to motivate players of varying levels and for spectators various items autographed by Singapore’s current leading players such as Li Jia Wei and Yang Zi will be available.
