Women Forum A `Think Tank’ to help promote the presence of women in sport held its first meeting at the offices of the International Table Tennis Federation in Lausanne, Switzerland on Friday 1st September 2006.
The informal meeting was as a direct result of the International Working Group for Women and Sport which met in Kumamoto, Japan in May 2006, where the theme was `A Commitment to Collaboration`. |

Women Forum ”In the Hot Seat” this month features ITTF Board of Directors Member Polona Cehovin Susin. She was recently in Lausanne to take part in an AISTS sports management seminar for women.
Also she had a chance to visit the ITTF Headquarters where ITTF Media Manager Svend Frandsen had a chance to ask her about the seminar and the development of women's table tennis amongst other things.

Women Forum Table tennis played a prominent role when over 700 participants from all parts of the world, including a contingent of 25 women from Botswana, representatives from NOCs, national sports federations, international federations, NGOs, UN agencies attended the 4th World Conference on Women and Sport in Kumamoto, Japan (11th-14th May 2006), organised by the International Working Group for Women and Sport (IWG) under the auspices of the NOC of Japan and the City and Prefecture of Kumamoto. |

Women Forum A major aim of the ITTF Women’s Working Group is to encourage more females to adopt administrative roles; in Slovenia that aim is increasingly being met.
At the elections held on Monday 15th May 2006 for Executive Board of the Slovenian Table Tennis Association three females were returned to office. Polona Cehovin Susin and Katja Konecnik were elected whilst by a large majority, almost ninety per cent of the votes, Silva Crnugelj was elected President.

Women Forum At the Latin American Championships in March 2006, the only female umpire on duty was Colombia’s Maria Yepes. She had the task of organising the umpires and completed her task in a quite and efficient manner. However, actually controlling matches, no woman was on duty.
At the XI Latin American Cadet and Mini-Cadet Championships in Paraguay (16th-22nd April 2006), the situation is somewhat different and one young lady in particular has impressed the organisers, Lucy Lezcano.
