Re: 11 Up

Dear Mr. Bertrand,

Thank you very much for your comments.

1. Eurosport: The men's final and semi-finals were shown on all Eurosport network except in the UK where they favoured a cycling event from Italy. Eurosport claims a low interest of viewers in the UK for Table tennis. I suggest you write to them directly to avoid
this type of change in schedule in the future. Also ask your friends
and table tennis lovers to do the same.

2. You are right, best of 7 is much better and best of 5 is rather short.

3. Finish proposal: they mean not to call a "let" for services that touch the net but that are otherwise correct (basically same as during the rally). This proposal was defeated at the Annual general meeting but may come back next year.

4. Changes should be made only to improve and not for the sake of change.

5. Defensive players: I was very happy to see a defensive player in the finals of the World Championships in Paris. It is a good sign that defensive players are still around and competitive.

Regarding posting your opinion on the Forum, just follow the instructions on site.

Thank you for your input.

Adham Sharara

Dear Mr. Sharara

After watching the world championship in Paris on Eurosport, unfortunately they did not even show a single minute of the men's final, I think 11up is after all a good decision as long as it is played to the best of 7 games. I like it myself as I tried it; but the best of 5 is too short to my liking.

I have read somewhere that the Finish want to propose to cancel net serves. What do they mean?

I think that recently TT has undergone more changes than most sports. Doing more changes will alienate players all around the world. Can we not decide to leave this game alone?

If there is any changes to make, I think this time they should be in favour of defending players. Too much has been done for the attackers.

Speed glue should be baned in the same way that the very long pimples have been in the 90s, I believe. Or perhaps they should be reintroduced. Another way to make rallies last a bit longer, would be to higher the net by half an inch for example. Attackers would

take more care to attack and spectators can as a result see what happens. The game should be more balanced. I don't think that changing the scoring system is the only solution to make the game more attractive.

I would like to know how to post a message on the forum open exchange section, so that other visitors of the web site would have the opportunity to read about this and get to have your opinion.

Thank you

Roger BERTRAND
