When the ITTF was seeking an organiser and host for the First World Cadet Challenge it became obvious that to secure success for this new initiative we had to place the event in a welcoming environment. It was a natural decision to award the event to Tiszaujvaros and merge it with the 4th World Table Tennis Youth Festival. The ITTF was delighted by the positive reaction of the organising committee and the Hungarian Table Tennis Association who readily embraced the ITTF's event and accommodated it within the already established Festival.
I have no doubt that both events will complement each other and that both will meet with tremendous success. With more than 50 participating nations, success is already guaranteed. After all, our goal is to give more competitive opportunities to the youth of the world within our sport.
I salute the organisers, under the tireless leadership of Mr. Ivan Herendi, and I thank the Hungarian Table Tennis Association for supporting the ITTF initiative. I also wish to recognise the great efforts of the ITTF's Junior Commission in developing new opportunities for our juniors.
To the participants, I wish you all the best in your competitions and I hope that you will make new friends from around the World and that you will renew old friendships.
