Athletic, a partnership to attract the attention with their dynamic style of play, Japanís Masataka Morizono and Yuya Oshima, the top seeds, won the Menís Doubles title at the 2016 ITTF World Tour German Open in Berlin on the late afternoon of Sunday 31st January.

At the final hurdle, they accounted for Hong Kongís Ho Kwan Kit and Tang Peng, the no.4 seeds in five games (11-8, 8-11, 11-6, 11-2).

Winner of the Girlsí Singles title at the World Junior Championships in the picturesque northern Colombian city of Cartagena de Indias in 2009, China Wu Yang won the Womenís Singles title at the 2016 ITTF World Tour German Open in Berlin on the afternoon of Sunday 31st January.

The no.5 seed, her defence proved too secure for Japanís Kasumi Ishikawa, the no.2 seed, a five games win was posted (11-5, 11-7, 9-11, 11-8, 11-7).

Current holder of the top spot on the Menís World Rankings, Chinaís Ma Long won the Menís Singles title at the 2016 ITTF World Tour German Open in Berlin on Sunday 31st January, to underline the fact that he has no immediate intentions whatsoever of relinquishing the his stranglehold on the coveted position.

The top seed, at the final hurdle he beat Vladimir Samsonov of Belarus in five games (11-7, 11-6, 11-4, 10-12, 11-5) to arrest the prestigious title and draw level with his highly respected adversary in terms of confrontations at international level.

Wins against expectations for Vladimir Samsonov of Belarus and Chinese Taipeiís Chuang Chih-Yuan ended the hopes of the host nation in the Menís Singles event at the 2016 ITTF World Tour German Open in Berlin.

On the evening of Saturday 30th January, Dimitrij Ovtcharov, the no.2 seed, was beaten by Chuang Chih-Yuan, the no.6 seed (11-5, 9-11, 11-8, 11-2, 11-5); before Timo Boll, the no.4 seed, suffered the same fate when facing Vladimir Samsonov, the no.8 seed (12-10, 12-10, 11-9, 11-6).
