A tournament filled with drama, excitement, elation, disappointment and records set; the GAC Group 2015 ITTF World Tour German Open finished on a high note for the host nation.

Timo Boll and Patrick Franziska, the no.8 seed, closed the curtain late on the afternoon of Sunday 22nd March by overcoming the Russian partnership of Kirill Skachkov and Alexey Smirnov, a pair who had been required to negotiate the preliminary rounds, to send the German fans home in buoyant mood.

Impressively Timo Boll and Patrick Franziska prevailed in four games (11-6, 12-10, 4-11, 11-8).....

Records Set Whatever the Outcome, Mima Ito Becomes Youngest Ever Winner

In September 2011, when only ten years old, Mima Ito became the youngest ever player to win a Junior Girlsí Singles title on the ITTF World Tour, when she emerged successful in Chinese Taipei.

Now less than four years later, Mima Ito is once again breaking records; on Sunday 22nd March she won the Womenís Singles title at the GAC Group 2015 ITTF World Tour German Open in Bremen and thus becomes the youngest ever winner in the history of the ITTF World Tour.

At the final hurdle she beat the host nationís Petrissa Solja (9-11, 13-11, 7-11, 11-7, 12-12, 12-10) in a contest that whatever the outcome made history.

DŁsseldorf Decision Reversed, Ma Long Levels Duels on German Soil

Elevated to the top spot on the Menís World Ranking earlier this month as a direct result of his success in Kuwait; Chinaís Ma Long won his second GAC Group 2015 ITTF World Menís Singles title of the year, when he emerged successful the German city of Bremen on Sunday 22nd March.

At the final hurdle he beat Chinese National Team compatriot, Zhang Jike, the no.2 seed, to secure the top prize.

In a thrilling seven games duel, Ma Long recovered from a three games to one deficit secure victory (11-9, 7-11, 8-11, 14-16, 11-6, 14-12, 11-8).....

Bremen Favourite Home for Petrissa Solja, Womenís Doubles Gold with Shan Xiaona

Winner of the Under 21 Womenís Singles title two days earlier, the host nationís Petrissa Solja added to her collection of titles on the concluding day of play, Sunday 22nd March, at the GAC Group 2015 ITTF World Tour German Open in Bremen.

She partnered colleague, Shan Xiaona to gold in the Womenís Doubles event, the duo accounting for the Hong Kong partnership od Doo Hoi Kem and Lee Ho Ching at the final hurdle (11-6, 11-6, 11-9).

Shan Xiaona and Petrissa Solja occupied the no.6 seeded position in the draw; Doo Hoi Kem and Lee Ho Ching were listed one place below. They were the no.7 seeds.....

Chinaís Ma Long and Zhang Jike, the respective top two seeds in the Menís Singles event at the GAC Group 2015 ITTF World Tour German Open in Bremen, emerged successful at the semi-final stage on the morning of Sunday 22nd March.

Ma Long ended the hopes of the host nation by recovering from a two games to nil deficit to beat Dimitrij Ovtcharov, the no.4 seed and defending champion (8-11,9-11,11-6,11-8,11-4,11-4), before Zhang Jike booked his place in the final.

He overcame colleague, Yan An, the no.6 seed.....

Against all expectations or perhaps judging by the results of the previous two days to be anticipated; the host nationís Petrissa Solja and Japanís Mima Ito emerged successful at the semi-final stage of the Womenís Singles event at the GAC Group 2015 ITTF World Tour German Open in Bremen on Sunday 22nd March.

Neither seeded; both players having been required to compete in the qualification rounds, Petrissa Solja beat Chinaís Gu Ruochen (11-6, 11-5, 11-9, 6-11, 7-11, 11-8) before Mima Ito overcame Singaporeís Feng Tianwei, the no.2 seed (13-11, 11-7, 11-6, 11-7).....

Yan An Upsets Seeding, Vladimir Samsonov So Close to Beating Olympic Champion

The winner in Sweden in early December 2013, Chinaís Yan An was the player to upset the seeding at the quarter-final stage of the Menís Singles event at the GAC Group 2015 ITTF World Tour German Open in Bremen on the evening of Saturday 21st March.

Occupying the no.6 seeded position in the draw, he accounted for Japanís Jun Mizutani in six games (11-5, 14-14, 9-11, 11-8, 7-11, 11-5).

It was to prove the only upset of the round but there was almost another, Vladimir Samsonov won the first three games against Zhang Jike and held one match point in the sixth game before suffering a full distance defeat (8-11, 9-11, 9-11, 11-3, 11-8, 13-11, 11-5).
