Title Regained, Once Again Vladimir Samsonov Succeeds in Qatar, Extends Record

The winner in 2003, once again Vladimir Samsonov of Belarus stood proudly on the top step of the podium in Doha.

On the evening of Sunday 22nd February in the splendours of the Aspire Complex, he won the Menís Singles title at the GAC Group 2015 ITTF World Tour Qatar Open beating Germanyís Dimitrij Ovtcharov, the top seed at the final hurdle.

Occupying the fourth seeded position in the draw; a five games success was posted to close the curtain on the six day tournament (11-9, 11-8, 15-13, 6-11, 11-9).....

Maintaining the very best traditions of Romanian excellence, Elizabeta Samara won the Womenís Singles title at the GAC Group 2015 ITTF World Tour Qatar Open in Doha on the evening of Sunday 22nd February.

Furthermore, she caused somewhat of a surprise to arrest the coveted title.

Occupying the no.7 seeded position in the competition; she upset the order of merit by beating Germanyís Han Ying, the no.3 seed at the final hurdle.....

Marcos Freitas and Andrej Gacina Secure Title but Brazilians Aspire to New Level

Anointed champions in 2010 in the Polish city of Warsaw, when the beat the Czech Republicís Petr Korbel and Antonin Gavlas at the final hurdle; the partnership of Portugalís Marcos Freitas and Andrej Gacina emerged successful in Dohaís Aspire Complex on the evening of Sunday 22nd February.

They won the Menís Doubles title at the GAC Group 2015 ITTF World Tour Qatar Open to collect their second such career accolade.

Not seeded, they accounted for the Brazilian partnership of Hugo Calderano and Gustavo Tsuboi, the eighth seeds, at the final hurdle (11-3, 11-5, 12-10).....

Winners on three previous occasions as a partnership, having enjoyed success in China and Chile in 2008, as well as in Spain in 2011; Hong Kongís Jiang Huajun and Tie Yana won the Womenís Doubles title at the GAC Group 2015 ITTF World Tour Qatar Open in Doha on the evening of Sunday 22nd February.

At the final hurdle they beat Singaporeís Li Ye and Zhou Yihan; the duo competing in their first ITTF World Womenís Doubles final.

Germanyís Dimitrij Ovtcharov and Vladimir Samsonov of Belarus were the players to succeed at the semi-final stage of the Menís Singles event at the GAC Group 2015 ITTF World Tour Qatar Open in Doha on the afternoon on Sunday 22nd February.

Impressive, Dimitrij Ovtcharov, the top seed, accounted for Portugalís Marcos Freitas, the no.3 seed (11-2, 10-12, 11-9, 11-6, 9-11, 11-8), before Vladimir Samsonov followed suit.

Occupying the no.4 seeded position in the draw, he overcame Chinese Taipeiís Chuang Chih-Yuan, the no.2 seed (13-11, 14-12, 11-5, 11-7).

Germanyís Han Ying and Romaniaís Elizabeta Samara emerged successful at the semi-final stage of the Womenís Singles event at the GAC Group 2015 ITTF World Tour Qatar Open in Doha on the early afternoon of Sunday 22nd February.

A tension packed contest was the order of the day in the duel between Han Ying, the no.3 seed and Singaporeís Feng Tianwei, the top seed, with the German saving two match points in the deciding seventh game before eventually succeeding by the minimal two point margin (6-11, 8-11, 11-7, 12-10, 11-7, 5-11, 12).....

Status prevailed at the quarter-final stage of the Menís Singles event at the GAC Group 2015 ITTF World Tour Qatar Open in Doha on the evening of Saturday 21st February; the top four names all emerged successful.

Germanyís Dimitrij Ovtcharov, the top seed, beat Jung Youngsik in a close seven games duel (11-8, 5-11, 11-4, 9-11, 11-13, 12-10, 11-2), before Vladimir Samsonov of Belarus, the no.4 seed, followed suit.

He recovered from an opening game deficit to overcome Portuguese qualifier, Jo„o Monteiro (8-11, 11-9, 11-6, 11-9, 11-8).....
