Krishnateja Avvari and Anqi Luo Clinch Olympic Places in Mississauga

Places available for one boy and one girl at the North America Youth Olympic Games Qualification Tournament; on Wednesday 9th April, they were clinched by Krishnateja Avvari of the United States and Canada’s Anqi Luo.

Krishnateja Avvari accounted for Canada’s Filip Ilijevski (7-11, 9-11, 11-6, 11-6, 11-6, 11-5), before overcoming Canada’s Klement Young (11-7, 12-10, 10-12, 11-7, 11-8) to reserve his place at the forthcoming Nanjing 2014 Youth Olympic Games.

In the counterpart semi-final Klement Young had beaten Allen Wang of the United States in a tense seven games duel (9-11, 11-5, 9-11, 7-11, 11-5, 13-11, 14-12).....

Disappoint Laid Aside, Another Chance for Alexander Moran and Krishnateja Avvari

It was disappointment for Canada’s Alexander Moran and Krishnateja Avvari of the United States of America at the 2014 Road to Nanjing – North America tournament in Mississauga on Monday 7th April.

Neither secured a top two finish in their group stage matches, a situation which would have ensured a place in the main draw.

Both finished in third places in their respective third places groups.....

The journey’s end is the city of Nanjing; the home of the forthcoming Youth Olympic Games, a multi-sport event which was first held four years ago in Singapore; for those who compete it was a competition never to be forgotten.

Whatever the outcome, the word “Olympic” carries a special meaning; it gives anyone who competed a revered place in sport whatever the eventual outcome.

In the Canadian city of Mississauga, an opportunity to compete in Nanjing is offer to players from the North American continent.....
