Top seed and favourite for gold, Germany’s Timo Boll won the Men’s Singles title at the European Championships on Sunday 21st October 2012 and thus brought to a conclusion, proceedings in the Danish town of Herning to a conclusion.
Furthermore, he retained the title, won one year ago in the Polish city of Gdansk-Sopot, in a most emphatic manner. At no stage of his march to glory was the 31 year old extended the full seven games distance.

Currently listed at no.19 on the Women’s World Rankings and the no.3 seed in Herning, Viktoria Pavlovich of Belarus won the Women’s Singles title at the European Championships on Sunday 21st October 2012 and thus regained the title won two years ago when the tournament was staged in Ostrava, Czech Republic.

Romanians Regain Title, Austria Once Again Displays Liking for Danish Soil |

Crowned European champion in Stuttgart in 2009, Denmark’s Michael Maze was beaten in the opening round of the Men’s Singles event at the current European Championships on Friday 19th October 2012.
Playing on home soil in the town of Herning, he suffered in six games against Austria’s Stefan Fegerl (11-5, 11-7, 11-7, 10-12, 10-12, 11-8).

Title Favourites Progress but Barbora Balazova and Sabine Winter Cause Upsets |

The Slovak Republic’s Barbora Balazova and Germany’s Sabine Winter, both 20 years old, were the players to upset the seeding in the Women’s Singles event at the European Championships in the Danish town of Herning on Friday 19th October 2012.
Both are players who have undoubtedly benefitted from the ITTF Global Junior Programme, both enjoying success on the ITTF Junior Circuit.
