El-Sayed Lashin Strikes Gold but Han Xing Prevents Egyptian Clean Sweep

Egypt’s El-Sayed Lashin and Congo Brazzaville’s Han Xing closed the curtain on the ITTF-African Senior Championships in Cairo, by winning the respective Men’s and Women’s Singles titles Friday 23rd November 2012.

The success recorded by El-Sayed Lashin continued the domination of proceedings by the host nation, the win posted by Han Xing prevented a clean sweep of titles by the host nation.

At the ITTF Global Junior Circuit Finals in Puerto Rico earlier this year in January, Egypt’s Mohamed Shouman was on the brink of a sensational victory; at the semi-final stage of the Boys’ Singles event he held match point on four occasions against Chinese Taipei’s Hung Tzu-Hsiang.

All four opportunities went begging. Hung Tzu-Hsiang held just one match point; he duly converted and progressed to win the title.

Status Prevails, Top Seeds Capture African Men’s and Women’s Doubles Titles

The top seeds emerged successful in the final of both the Men’s and Women’s Doubles events at the ITTF-African Senior Championships in Cairo on Thursday 22nd November 2012.

Nadeen E-Dawlatly and Dina Meshref added to their title haul and that of the host nation, by overcoming the Congo Brazzaville duo of Han Xing and Onyinyechi Nwachukwu, the second seeds, at the final hurdle in five games (11-3, 11-5, 10-12, 11-7, 11-8).

A day’s rest but when matters recommenced on Wednesday 21st November 2012 at the ITTF-African Senior Championships in Cairo, it was the same story as on the first three days.

Egyptian players re-charged their batteries and no-one recharged more than Omar Assar and Dina Meshref. Occupying the top seeded position, they won the Mixed Doubles title.

A rest day for the leading players, following the conclusion of the Men’s and Women’s Team events on Monday 19th November 2012 at the ITTF-African Senior Championships in Cairo, visits to Alexandria and the Pyramids were organised with the venue witnessing Veteran events on the itinerary.

Now on Wednesday 21st November, for the principal players, it is back to action.

Dina Meshref Excels in Cairo, Egypt Captured Men’s and Women’s Team Titles

Egypt clinched both the Men’s and Women’s Team titles at the ITTF-African Senior Championships on home, soil in their country's capital city of Cairo, on Monday 19th November 2012, both outfits overcoming Congo Brazzaville to arrest the titles.
