Lee Chia-Sheng Repeats Korean Success, Gold for Chinese Taipei Teenager in Hungary

The winner earlier in the year in Asiai when he succeeded at the Korean Junior and Cadet Open in Daejeon, Chinese Taipei’s Lee Chia-Sheng collected his second ITTF Junior Circuit title of the year in the city of Tata on Sunday 11th November 2012.

In the final of the Boys’ Singles event at the Joola Hungarian Junior Open, occupying the top seeded position in the draw, he beat Canada’s Chen Hongtao, the second seed, to clinch gold.

Impressive throughout the whole tournament and showing a high level of maturity, Lee Chia-Sheng recorded a five games success to secure the title (14-12, 11-8, 8-11, 11-8, 11-6).....

Chiu Ssu-Hua Upsets Seeding to Book Girls’ Singles Semi-Final Place in Hungary

Chinese Taipei’s Chiu Ssu-Hua was the player in form as matters progressed towards the semi-final stage of proceedings in the Girls’ Singles event at the Joola Hungarian Junior Open in the city of Tata on Sunday 11th November 2012.

Listed at no.19 on the seeding and thus required to compete in the group qualification stage of proceedings, the 16 year old caused the shock of the third round.

Wins in the opening two rounds over Germany’s Wan Yuan (12-10, 11-9, 11-5, 11-8) and Serbia’s Aneta Maksuti (11-9, 17-15, 12-10, 9-11, 11-9), she excelled one round later. ....

Tough Times for Germany but Principal Boys Make Successful Start in Tata

Russia’s Maxim Chaplygin was the player in form, as matters commenced in the first round of the Boys’ Singles event at the Joola Hungarian Junior Open in the city of Tata on Saturday 10th November 2012; the penultimate stop on this year's ITTF Junior Circuit.

He was the one player to cause an upset of note; he overcame Germany’s Qiu Liang, the no.8 seed, in a hard fought six games duel (11-13, 16-14, 8-11, 11-9, 11-4, 11-9).

Otherwise the leading names all successfully negotiated the opening hurdle; the one player to emerge successful but experience serious problems, was Qiu Lang’s doubles partner, Marc Rode.....

Leading Names Secure First Places in Initial Stage of Tata Proceedings

Iran’s Seyed Pourya Omrani, Croatia’s Filip Zeljko and Croatia’s Tomislav Pulcar; the three leading names on duty in the first stage of proceedings in the Boys’ Singles event at the Joola Hungarian Junior Open in Tata all enjoyed success on Saturday 10th November, all finished in first places in their respective groups without conceding a single game.

Similarly for England’s Sam Walker and Poland’s Michal Bankosz, both amongst the leading names in action, it was a trouble free day.

However, to gain a place in the main draw, to join the top 16 rated players who were not required to compete in the group stage of proceedings, three notable names did experience problems.....

Qualification for Main Draw Places Proves Exacting Task at Hungarian Junior Open

The Slovak Republic’s Lucia Truksova and Chiu Ssu-Hua, two of the leading names on duty in the first stage of proceedings in the Girls’ Singles event at the Hungarian Junior Open in Tata, experienced few problems securing first place in their respective groups on Saturday 10th November 2012.

Lucia Truksova clinched her place in the main draw without the loss of a single game, whilst Chiu Ssu-Hua surrendered just one game on her path to top place in the group.

She needed four games to beat Sweden’s Tida Johansson (11-7, 9-11, 11-6, 11-3). ....

Czech Republic Secures Hungarian Boys’ Team Title in Commanding Style

The fourth seeds, the Czech Republic rose to the occasion to win the Boys’ Team title at the Joola Hungarian Junior Open in Tata on Friday 9th November 2012; in the second stage of proceedings they surrendered just one individual match en route to the title; that being in the final against Hong Kong, the no.5 seeds.

Backbone of the Czech Republic victory in the final was the very impressive David Reitspies; he beat both Lam Siu Hang (11-7, 11-6, 11-9) and Li Hon Ming (12-10, 11-4, 11-8).

The one further win for the champions elect came from Jakub Seibert; in the opening contest he overcame Li Hon Ming. ....

Surprise Finalists in Hungary, Croatian Trio Clinch Girls’ Team Gold

Croatia emerged as the somewhat surprise winners of the Girls’ Team title at the Joola Hungarian Junior Open in Tata on Friday 9th November 2012.

They clinched the title by overcoming Germany ‘B’ in a somewhat surprise final; Croatia occupied the fourth seeded place in the draw, the Germans one place lower.

Mainstay of the three-one victory in the final was Mateja Jeger.

She accounted for Yuko Imamura (8-11, 11-2, 11-5, 11-7) and Theresa Kraft (11-4, 11-9, 11-7).
