The law of averages favoured Chinese Taipei just as two weeks earlier they had favoured Korea; on both occasions the laws were defied.
At the Korean Junior and Cadet Open, which concluded in the city of Daejeon on Saturday 1st September 2012, the quarter-final stage of the Junior Boys’ Singles event saw seven players from the host nation on duty and one sole warrior from Chinese Taipei.

Bronze medallist in the Junior Girls’ Singles event, losing just one contest in the whole competition when beaten by the host association’s Chin Hsiao-Chin; Japan’s Rika Suzuki won the Junior Girls’ Singles title at the Chinese Taipei Junior and Cadet Open, which concluded on Sunday 16th September.
Occupying the no.3 seeded position in the draw, she overcame Chinese Taipei’s Chen Hung-Ting, the no.8 seed, at the quarter-final stage (6-11, 9-11, 11-7, 11-2, 11-9, 11-8), as the pecking orde.... |

A member of the Chinese Taipei ‘B’ Team, alongside Hsu Chi-Liang and Lu Po-Hsien, an outfit that failed to secure a place in the main draw of proceedings earlier in the week, 18 year old Lin Hsuan-Ming was the player to cause the biggest upset at the Chinese Taipei Junior and Cadet Open on Saturday 15th September 2012.
Not listed amongst the top names, he beat Singapore’s Xin Zhaoxu, the no.3 seed and winner earlier in the year on the ITTF Junior Circuit at the Czech Junior and Cadet Open.... |

The host association’s Huang Yu-Wen and Japan’s Rira Ishikawa were the somewhat surprise names to be in contention for honours, as the penultimate day of action, Saturday 15th September 2012, came to a close at the Chinese Taipei Junior and Cadet Open.
Huang Yu-Wen progressed to the quarter-final stage of the Junior Girls’ Singles event.
Rira Ishikawa advanced to the penultimate round of the Cadet Girls’ Singles competition.
Both accounted for higher seeded players en route.... |

Singapore’s Clarence Chew, Japan’s Masahiro Otsuka and Chinese Taipei’s Lai Yi-Yao were the notable names to experience defeats in the first stage of the Junior Boys’ Singles event at the Chinese Taipei Junior and Cadet Open on Friday 14th September 2012.
All booked places in the main draw but none took the easy route.

The leading names in both the Junior Girls’ and Cadet Girls’ Singles events at the Chinese Taipei Junior and Cadet Open enjoyed success in the initial phase of proceedings on Friday 14th September 2012.
First place in their respective groups without ever being extended the full five games distance was the end result for the top eight names in the Junior Girls’ Singles event.
In fact of the top ten names present, the only player to experience any problems at all was Japan’s Ayane Mo.... |
