A surprise defeat in the first stage of proceedings, Hungary reaped revenge on Saturday 8th September 2012, to win the Junior Boys’ Team title at the Funchal Junior and Cadet Open.
In the initial group phase, the second seeded Hungarians had been unexpectedly beaten by an in-form Egypt outfit.
Tamas Lakatos had emerged successful in both encounters but both Adam Szudi and Janos Bence Majoros had suffered defeats.

It was mixed fortunes for Egypt as matters came to a close in the first day of the team events, Friday 7th September 2012, at the Funchal Junior and Cadet Open in Madeira.
The trio comprising Omar Bedair, Shady Magdy and Abdel-Rahman Mohamed caused an upset in the initial stage of the Junior Boys’ Team event, the outfit formed by Alia Doaa, Yousra Helmy and Alaa Saad were on the receiving end of a surprise.

Winner of the Junior Boys’ Singles title at the Czech Junior and Cadet Open in February 2011, Hungary’s Tamas Lakatos collected his second career ITTF Junior Circuit title, when he emerged successful in the Atlantic island of Madeira on Thursday 6th September 2012.

A successful day for Hungary’s Tamas Lakatos, the top seed and for Portugal’s Diogo Chen, the fourth seed but on Wednesday 5th September 2012, in the first stage of matches in the Junior Boys’ Singles event at the Funchal Junior and Cadet Open in Madeira, there were problems for the second and third seeds.
