Gold for United States and Thailand but Everyone a Medallist in Falkenberg

Kanak Jha from the United States and Thailand’s Naja Mekamporn won the respective Boys’ and Girls’ Singles event at the ITTF Hopes Challenge on Sunday 17th June 2012 and thus brought a successful week to an end in the Swedish town of Falkenberg.

Lithuania’s Medaras Stankevicius was the silver medallist in the Boys’ event with the bronze medals going to Egypt’s Youssef Abdelaziz and the host nation’s Vilner Georgsson.

Meanwhile, in the Girls’ event, the runners up spot was claimed by Puerto Rico’s Adriana Diaz, with Sweden’s Kristina Kallberg and Ellen Holmsten being the losing semi-finalists.....

An exciting week in the Swedish town of Falkenberg is nearing a conclusion and one young lady in particular has caught the eye of Zita Pidl, the Manager for the ITTF Hopes Team.

The player in question is Bruna Takahashi from Brazil; delighted to be able to practise in the famous club, she is a member of what might now be considered the counterpart Brazilian club.....

Sandra Paovic Met Challenge, Now Different Challenge Awaits in Falkenberg

Croatia’s Sandra Paovic was the special guest on the final day, Friday 15th June 2012, at the ITTF Hopes Training Camp in the Swedish city of Falkenberg.

She was charged with the very special duty of deciding the awards for the most impressive boy and girl at the five days of Hopes Training Sessions.

Spain’s Francisco Miguel Ruiz, who has been quietly focused in all the sessions throughout the week, gained the Boys’ Award with the counterpart Girls’ Award being presented to Switzerland’s very impressive Camille Linke.....

If we one time, and that’s soon coming, have to bury the white celluloid ball, Falkenberg in Sweden could well be the place that deserves the honour.

It is the home for the current ITTF Hopes Training Camp and Challenge which started on Monday 11th June and will conclude on Sunday 17th June 2012.

Table tennis lives and breathes here on the Swedish west coast; always has and always will. Numerous top players, international as well as Swedish have called Falkenberg their home for the simple reason of good practice and excellent coaching.....

Never Too Old to Learn, the Message from Jörgen Persson

Winner of the Men’s Singles title in Chiba in 1991 and a member of the gold medal winning Swedish Men’s Team on four occasions at World Championships, Sweden’s Jörgen Persson was the special guest for “Meet the Champions” evening at the ITTF Hopes Training Camp in Falkenberg on Wednesday 13th June 2012.

Now 46 years old, the living legend made his debut at a World Championships in Gothenburg in 1985; now over quarter of a century later, he is still competing at the highest levels and has been a regular face on the GAC GROUP World Tour this year.

The experience he possesses is immense. ....

Seasoned Campaigner from United States but Not Yet Twelve Years Old

Almost 70 young Hopes athletes, 12 years of age and under, gathered in Falkenberg on Monday 11th June 2012 for seven day programme, which includes a five day Training Camp and two day Challenge Tournament.

Falkenberg is the famous table tennis capital of Sweden.

There are plenty of talents making a case for themselves; many of them completely new to the international environment. However that is not the case for a certain group of players, believe it or not at the age of 12 years old, already with plenty of international events under their young and hardly flight ready wings. ....

A highly successful first day, Monday 11th June 2012, in Falkenberg for the ITTF Hopes Week and Challenge.

first impressions count the most and the first impressions from all concerned were more than positive.

Top class coaches motivated by the talent they tutored, young players eager to learn and follow in the footsteps of their mentors; notably Peter Karlsson and Erik Lindh both players from a golden age of Swedish table tennis and winners of gold medals at both World and European Championships. They were the iconic figures present in Falkenberg.....
