Memorable moments, there were many at the London 2012 Paralympic Games; one which stood out in the ExCeL Exhibition Centre was the final of the Men’s Singles Class 7 event between Germany’s Jochen Wollmert and the crowd’s favourite, Great Britain’s Will Bayley.
In recent contests prior to the confrontation in the final and later in the bronze medal match in the Men’s Team Class 6-8 event at the London Paralympic Games, Will Bayley had beaten Jochen Wollmert; with a passionate British crow.... |

No Place in the Main Draw but British Paralympian is the Main Draw |

Third place in his group, no passport to the main draw; matters did not work out as hoped.
However, when it came to a champagne moment in the ExCeL Exhibition Centre at the London 2012 Paralympic Games, Great Britain’s David Wetherill topped the poll.
During the Paralympic Games, no video-clip was viewed on YouTube on more occasions than the forehand top spin he executed in his Men’s Singles Class 6 first stage contest against Germany’s Thomasz Kusiak.

Sir Philip Craven MBE was unequivocal at the Closing Ceremony of the London 2012 Paralympic Games, on Sunday 9th September, in a packed to capacity Olympic Stadium.
“This was the best Paralympic Games ever”, said the President of the International Paralympic Committee in his rich Lancastrian pure Bolton accent.

At 12.49pm, British Summer Time, on Wednesday 6th July 2005 in Singapore, Jacques Rogge, the President of the International Olympic Committee, announced “London”.
The Olympic Games had been awarded to England’s capital city; there was immediate rejoicing throughout Great Britain.

Faster than Zhang Jike, Ge Yang Alongside Ma Lin Overcomes Final Hurdle |

Just over one month earlier Zhang Jike had leapt the surrounds, run headlong to the medal podium and kissed the top step, after winning gold in the Men’s Singles event at the London 2012 Olympic Games.
On Saturday 8th September, in the same ExCeL North Arena One, the speed and hurdling skills of the Chinese superstar were more than matched by the grease lightning Ge Yang.

Peking University Revisited, Zhang Bian and Gu Cai Repeat Beijing Success |

Successful four years earlier in the Peking University Gymnasium, China once again won gold in the Women’s Team Class 4-5 event.
In Beijing in 2008, Zhang Bian and Gu Gai had been members of the successful squad, alongside Zhou Ying and Ren Guixiang; in the ExCeL North Arena on Saturday 8th September they were the players who guided China to gold at the London 2012 Paralympic Games.

Emotional Moments for Chinese Veteran, Silver Turns to Gold for Zhang Yan |

Tears filled the eyes of Zhang Yan after he won the point that secured the gold medal for China in the Men’s Team Class 4-5 event at the London 2012 Paralympic Games on Saturday 8th September.
Hugged by his colleagues, the 45 year old, one of the more senior players on duty in the ExCeL North Arena One, was filled with emotion.
The reason was not only that the top prize had been secured but that a long four year wait was over.
