Seventh Attempt, Ma Long Eventually Secures Second Consecutive Title |

On Sunday 15th May, Zhang Jike clinched the Men´s Singles title at the GAC GROUP 2011 World Championships in Rotterdam.
He won on his seventh match point.
Four months later on Sunday 25th September, Ma Long did exactly the same, to win the Men’s Singles crown at the Austrian Open in Schwechat on the outskirts of Vienna.
In an all Chinese final, it was the reverse scenario to that which had been enacted in Rotterdam.

Ding Ning Wins in Austria to Complete Hat-Trick of Titles |

The reigning World champion, 21 year old Ding Ning, won the Women’s Singles title at the Austrian Open in the Vienna suburb of Schwechat on Sunday 25th September 2011.
In so doing she completed a hat-trick of titles, collecting her third such crown of the year on the ITTF Pro Tour.
She won in England in January and the following month in the United Arab Emirates; in fact on every appearance on the ITTF Pro Tour in 2011 she has reached the final. .... |

Ma Long and Wang Hao Repeat Shenzhen Success to Win in Schwechat |

Winners of the Men’s Doubles title, earlier in the year in June at the Volkswagen China Open, Ma Long and Wang Hao combined to win their second such title of the year on Sunday 25th September 2011.
In the final of the Austrian Open in the Werner Schlager Academy, they overcame Chinese National Team colleagues, Ma Lin and Zhang Jike at the final hurdle.
In a contest between the top two seeded partnerships, it was the second seeds who prevailed..... |

Occupying the top seeded position, Ding Ning and Li Xiaoxia duly justified their exalted position in the draw, by winning the Women’s Doubles title at the Austrian Open in Schwechat on Sunday 25th September 2011.
The World champion and the world’s top ranked female player were in harmony.
At the final hurdle they over compatriots Fan Ying and Wu Yang, who had upset the seeding by emerging successful in the qualifying rounds and then progressing to the final; their defensive skills .... |

Ma Long and Zhang Jike emerged successful in the all Chinese Men’s Singles semi-final duels at the Austrian Open in Schwechat on Sunday 25th September 2011.
Centre stage, recently crowned World champions faced each other in gladiatorial battle and the incumbent World Champion crossed swords with the current Olympic champion.
Xu Xin faced Ma Long, Ma Lin confronted Zhang Jike; at the end of the contests it was victory for one player straining every sinew to book a place in the 2012 .... |

Ranked no.1 on the Women’s World Ranking list, already qualified for the 2012 London Olympic Games but still no Women’s Singles on the ITTF Pro Tour in 2011.
In fact no such title for over a year.
Li Xiaoxia, the top seed in the Women’s Singles event at the Austrian Open in Schwechat, was beaten by compatriot Liu Shiwen in their semi-final encounter late on the morning of Sunday 25th September.

Title Destiny Decided, Chinese Quartet in Devastating Form |

Seeding suggested that Ma Lin, Zhang Jike, Ma Long and Xu Xin would emerge successful at the quarter-final stage of the Men’s Singles event at the Austrian Open in Schwechat on Saturday 24th September 2011.
