Timo Boll in Top Gear Delights Supporters to Win Volkswagen Cup |

A cheque for US$50,000 and a Volkswagen Beetle Saloon Car was the reward for Timo Boll, following his quite sensational victory in the final of the Men’s Singles event at the Volkswagen Cup in the German city of Braunschweig on Wednesday 1st December 2010.
The German star recovered from an opening game deficit, to record a five games victory over Ma Lin, the reigning Olympic champion and a man who is very much a key member of the current Chinese National Men's Team.

Li Xiaoxia Adds Volkswagen Cup Title to Asian Games Gold |

China’s Li Xiaoxia beat Korea’s Kim Kyung Ah in the final of the Women’s Singles title at the Volkswagen Cup in Braunshweig on Wednesday 1st December 2010 and thus repeated the success she had enjoyed twelve days earlier in Guangzhou.
At the semi-final stage of the Women’s Singles event at the Asian Games, she had beaten Korea’s Kim Kyung Ah and she had progressed to win the title.
In Braunschweig, she emerged as the champion but she was given a much more severe test by Kim Kyung .... |

Timo Boll duly rewarded the faithful spectators in the Volkswagen Halle in Braunschweig on the evening of Wednesday 1st December 2010, by beating Japan’s Jun Mizutani in four straight games in their Men’s Singles semi-final encounter at the Volkswagen Cup.
It was a convincing performance in a duel that never reached the level of their confrontation at the Liebherr Men’s World Cup in Magdeburg in late October.

At the Asian Games in Guangzhou, 22 year old Li Xiaoxia had been in outstanding form; at the semi-final stage of the Women’s Singles event at the Volkswagen Cup in Braunshweig on the evening of Wednesday 1st December 2010, that form was maintained.
Against Hungary’s Krisztina Toth, she never put one foot wrong, she made no unforced errors as she established her authority on proceedings. Li Xiaoxia won 11-3, 11-6, 11-2, 11-2.
