Top Seed Justifies Lofty Position to Clinch First Ever ITTF Junior Circuit Title

Poland’s Robert Flores duly justified his position as the top seed in the Boys’ Singles event at the Egypt Junior Open in Cairo by clinching the top prize on Saturday 13th February 2010.

In so doing he won his first ever Boys’ Singles title on the ITTF Junior Circuit; the previous best being a quarter-final exit. In 2007 he reached the round of the last eight at the Funchal Junior Open on the Atlantic island of Madeira; whilst in 2009 he departed proceedings at the same stage at the Spanish Junior Open in Platja d’Aro and on home soil, at the Polish Junior Open in Wladyslawowo.

One Step Higher for Isabelle Siyun Li at Egypt Junior Open

Singapore’s 15 year old Isabelle Siyun Li, went one step higher than the previous week in Manama, by winning the Girls’ Singles title at the Egypt Junior Open in Cairo on Saturday 13th February 2010.

At the Bahrain Junior Open, she had suffered defeat in the final against Romania’s Camelia Postoaca. In Cairo, the elegant defensive play of the Singaporean was stout and solid; her control and composure the key to victory.

The Singaporean beat Germany’s 17 year old Sabine Winter at the final hurdle in five games to win her fifth career Girls’ Singles title on the ITTF Junior Circuit.

First Stage of Proceedings Negotiated Without Alarm by Top Seeds

In the group stage of the Girls’ Singles and Cadet Girls’ events at the Egypt junior Open in Cairo, the leading players all emerged in first place in their respective groups.

In the Boys’ and Cadet Boys’ Singles competitions it was exactly the same scenario, the leading players were never threatened and the host nation having cause to celebrate.

Both 17 year old Khalid Assar and 15 year old Omar Bedair, the respective no.2 and no.8 seeded players emerged in first place in the groups; furthermore, neither was troubled, neither conceded a single game.

Leading Ladies Progress in Style at Egypt Junior Open

The leading players in both the Girls’ and Cadet Girls’ Singles events, all negotiated the group qualification stage of proceedings at the Egypt Junior Open in Cairo on Friday 12th February 2010.

Poland’s Magdalena Szczerkowska, Russia’s Yana Noskova plus the Romanian duo of Cristina Hirici and Bernadette Szocs, the respective top four seeds, recorded comfortable victories as did the next in line.

There were no great problems for Germany’s Sabine Winter, Romania’s Camelia Postoaca, Poland’s Klaudia Kusinska and Singapore’s Isabelle Li.

Junior Girls’ Doubles Gold for Germany, Cadet Girls’ Doubles Gold for Romania

Germany’s Anna Krieghoff and Sabine Winter hit form at the Egypt Junior Open in Cairo on Thursday 11th February 2010; whilst in the Cadet Girls’ Doubles event Irina Ciobanu and Bernadette Szocs captured the top prize.

The Germans upset the seeding to win the Girls’ Doubles title and secure the top step of the medal podium.

Seeded no.3, they ousted top seeds, Romania’s Cristina Hirici and Camelia Postoaca at the semi-final stage; before overcoming Poland’s Klaudia Kusinska and Magdalena Szczerkowska, the no.2 seeds.

Egyptians Repeat Team Success to Capture Boys’ Doubles Top Prize

Success in the Boys’ Team event and success in the Boys’ Doubles competition one day later; on Wednesday 10th February the host nation’s Omar Bedair and Khalid Assar secured the gold medal in the team competition.

One day later, on Thursday 11th February 2010, they stood on the top step of the medal podium in the Boys’ Doubles event.

At the final hurdle they overcame the German partnership of Arne Holter and Tran Van Lu to clinch gold.

Host Nation Clinches Boys’ Team Gold at Egypt Junior Open

 2/10/2010 2010 Egypt Junior & Cadet Open - ITTF Premium Junior Circuit

Success came the way of the host nation in the Boys’ Team event at the Egypt Junior Open in Cairo on Wednesday 10th February 2010, with 17 year old Khalid Assar combining successfully with 15 year old Omar Bedair to clinch the top prize.

Seeded no.2, the pair defeated the Russian combination of Vildan Gladiev and Philipp Kuimov in the final; the Russians having caused the upset of the event by ousting the Polish combination of Robert Floras and Tomasz Wisniewski at the semi-final stage.

It was a notable success for the host nation whose teenage players have improved consistently in recent years and are an increasingly potent force in ITTF Global Junior Programme events.
