Wang Hao Captures Men’s Singles Title in Chiba |

China’s Wang Hao, the number three seed, won the Men’s Singles event at the Volkswagen Open Japan on Sunday 24th June 2006 beating compatriot Ma Long in five games at the final hurdle. Wang Hao won 11-9, 11-8, 12-10, 9-11, 11-6.
It was Wang Hao’s seventh career title at an open international tournament on the ITTF Pro Tour tournament. In addition he has won twice at the Grand Finals, thus making his overall total nine.

Wang Nan Ends Women’s Title Drought on ITTF Pro Tour |

China’s Wang Nan, the former Olympic and World champion, won the Women’s Singles event at the Volkswagen Open Japan in Chiba on Sunday 24th June 2007 beating national team colleague Guo Yan in the final.
Wang Nan recovered from a two games to nil deficit to win 9-11, 6-11, 11-8, 11-7, 11-8, 11-9.
It was her sixteenth Women’s Singles victory on the ITTF Pro Tour making a total of eighteen titles when two successes the ITTF Pro Tour Grand Finals are added to the equation.

Both Doubles Titles Go to China at Volkswagen Open Japan |

China captured gold in both the Men’s Doubles and Women’s Doubles events at the Volkswagen Open Japan in Chiba on Sunday 24th June 2007.
Chen Qi and Wang Liqin won the Men’s Doubles title whilst in the Women’s Doubles event Guo Yue and Li Xiaoxia won by the same margin.

China’s Ma Long and Wang Hao were the two players to progress to the final of the Men’s Singles event at the Volkswagen Open Japan in Chiba on Sunday 23rd June 2007.
At the penultimate stage both recorded impressive victories. Ma Long overpowered the elegant style of Korea’s Oh Sang Eun whilst Wang Hao overcame colleague Wang Liqin; the man, who by winning the Men’s Singles title at the Liebherr World Championships in Zagreb one month ago, completed a hat-trick of successes. |

Former World Champion Beats Newly Crowned Champion to Reach Final |

China’s Guo Yan and Wang Nan emerged as the two successful players in the semi-finals of the Women’s Singles event at the Volkswagen Open Japan on Sunday 23rd June 2007.
Guo Yan, the number three seed, beat Hong Kong’s Jiang Huajun, who earlier had accounted for top seed Zhang Yining, whilst Wang Nan ended the hopes of the newly crowned World champion, Guo Yue. Wang Nan won 11-8, 13-11, 11-6, 11-3 whilst Guo Yan prevailed 11-9, 11-7, 11-9, 9-11, 11-6.

Success came the way of the host nation in the Under 21 Men’s and Under 21 Women’s Singles events at the Volkswagen Open Japan in Chiba on Saturday 23rd June 2007.
The Under 21 Men’s Singles title was won by Jun Mizutani, whilst the Under 21 Women’s crown was clinched by Yuka Ishigaki.

Chen Qi partnering Wang Liqin and Ma Lin in harness with Wang Hao were the two pairs who emerged successful on Saturday 22nd June 2007 in the Men’s Doubles event at the Volkswagen Open Japan in Chiba, to make the final an all Chinese affair.
Meanwhile, in the counterpart Women’s Doubles competition it was China’s Gue Yue and Li Xiaoxia who emerged successful in the top half of the draw. |
