Titles go to Indonesia and Romania at the Bahrain Junior Open

Indonesia’s Ficky Supit Santoso and Romania’s Elizabeta Samara won the Boys’ and Girls’ Singles titles respectively at the Bahrain Junior Open on Sunday 4th February 2007.

In the Boys’ Singles final Ficky Supit Santoso beat colleague Achmad Marufin in a tense seven games thriller whilst in the counterpart girls’ competition top seed, Canada’s Zhang Mo, in four straight games.....

ITTF WJC Bahrain Junior Open
Indonesia represented by Gilang Maulana and Ficky Supit Santoso won the Boys?Team event at the Bahrain Junior Open on Friday 2nd February 2007 beating the Islamic Republic of Iran in the final.

En route to the final they won every contest by three matches to nil; in the final they repeated the score line but the result does not reflect the splendid effort that Iran made; it was closer than the result may suggest.....

Honour in Defeat for Rashed Almajed at the Bahrain Junior Open

Defeat but for the hosts, Bahrain, Rashed Almajed was a hero.

The quarter-final Boys’ Singles encounter in which he was involved on Saturday 3rd February 2007 against Indonesia’s Gilang Maulana was generally accepted as the best match of the tournament to date.

Rashed Almajed lost a seven game thriller but the fact that he extended the Indonesian the full distance illustrated the high level at which he is capable of playing.

Indonesians in Control as Top Seed Departs Boys’ Singles Event in Quarter-Finals

Top seed in the Boys’ Singles event at the Bahrain Junior Open, Qatar’s Ahmed Al-Mohannadi exited proceedings at the quarter-final stage on Saturday 3rd February 2007. He was beaten in straight games by Ficky Supit Santoso of Indonesia.

Ficky Supit Santoso won 11-6, 11-9, 13-11, 11-6 on what proved to be a good day for Indonesia; Achmad Marufin and Gilang Maulana also progressed safely through the quarter-final stage where they are joined by Iran’s Noshad Alamiyan.....

Favourites Reach Girls' Singles Semi-Finals in Bahrain in Impressive Style

The top two seeds in the Girls’ Singles event at the Bahrain Junior Open, Romania’s Elizabeta Samara and Canada’s Zhang Mo, both reached the semi-final stage on Saturday 3rd February 2007 without the loss of a single individual game.

Elizabeta Samara is one of two Romanians through to the penultimate round; also through is Irina Hoza with the fourth place in the draw being completed by Singapore’s Sim Kai Xin.

Elizabeta Samara and Irina Hoza dominated matters in the Girls’ Team event at the Bahrain Junior Open on Friday 2nd February 2007 succeeding in the final by three matches to nil.

Irina Hoza beat Sim Kai Xin in straight games after Elizabeta Samara had accounted for Isabelle Li by the same margin; the match concluded with the Romanians combining to beat Heng Wei Chen and Sim Kai Xin in four games.
