Tamasu Butterfly provides scholarships each year for five young players in liaison with the ITTF Global Junior Programme; it is a three year policy with the first awards having been made in 2005. In 2006, three girls will receive awards, Kasumi ISHIKAWA (Japan), Sofia POLCANOVA (Moldova) and Olena SOWERS (U.S.A.) whilst one boy, JUNG Young Sik (Korea), has been granted an award. The fifth scholarship will be shared between two boys, SHING Yoshua Jordan (Vanuatu) and Robbie FRANK (Australia). .... |

Two left handers contested the Boys' Singles final at the World Junior Championships in Linz on Saturday 17th December 2005; a quite unusual occasion in the history of the World Junior Championships or the senior equivalent.
The two players in question were Ptrick BAUM of Germany and Jun MIZUTANI of Japan.
Both previous Boys' Singles final in the World Junior Championships had seen two right handers in action, whilst in the Men's Singles final at a World Championships two left hand.... |

Two Chinese teenagers contested the Girls' Singles final in Linz on the afternoon of Saturday 17th December 2005 at the 3rd World Junior Championships; furthermore, they were both from the same city, the capital city, Beijing.
The players in question were DING Ning and PENG Xue, the former left handed, the latter right handed, two players who some twenty minutes earlier had together won the Girls' Doubles title. .... |

The victory of Jun MIZUTANI in the first semi-final of the Boys' Singles event at the 3rd World Junior Championships in Linz on the morning of Saturday 17th December 2005 meant that the final would be contested between two left handers.
Germany's Patrick BAUM and Chinese Taipei's HUANG Sheng-Sheng, the players contesting the second Boys' Singles semi-final, both being left handed.
