Fifteen year old LI Hu and seventeen year old LI Qian, both from China, emerged as champions in the Boys’ and Girls’ Singles events respectively at the 1st ITTF World Junior Table Tennis Championships in Santiago, Chile on Sunday 21 December 2003.
LI Hu from Shashi in Herbei province and whose second name means tiger, dominated proceedings in the boys´final against his Korean counterpart CHOE Eon Rae, winning in four games; the Chinese teenager was too consistent and when the opportunity .... |

The semi-final stage of the Boys’ Singles event at the 1st World Junior Championships in Santiago was Korea versus China and following the victories of LI Hu over LIM Jae Hyun and CHO Eon Rae over ZHENG Changgong, the final also sees the same two Asian countries in opposition.
LIM Jae Hyun never found his best form against LI Hu, or perhaps more to the point, the latter never gave his Korean adversary a chance to find his best form! LI Hu was faster, LIM Jae Hyun, almost two and a half ye.... |
