Once Again Daejeon the Host, City Provides Home for Final European Preparations

Daejeon, the home earlier this year for the highly successful and well attended Korean Junior and Cadet Open, a city situated less than one hour by high speed train from the capital, Seoul, has once again welcomed visitors from foreign shores.

The Dong San High School is the home for the final Training Camp for the European Team, prior to the ITTF Cadet Challenge, which will be staged in Guam from Saturday 27th October to Sunday 4th November 2012.

Training in Ober-Erlenbach near Frankfurt over, the first of the two Training Camps, the European players commenced practice in Daejeon one week ahead of the start of play in Guam.

Situated on the outskirts of Frankfurt, with a table tennis club that is celebrating a quarter of a century since its foundation in 1987, Ober-Erlenbach was the home for the European Team as it prepares for the ITTF World Cadet Challenge to be staged in Guam from Saturday 27th October to Sunday 4th November 2012.

The Ober-Erlenbach Club proved to be perfect hosts.

Not only did they provide excellent training facilities, practice partners and worthy adversaries, they also provided outstanding hospitality.

Hospitality was in true Frankfurt style.....

No Family Gathering, but Success in Guam the Perfect Birthday Present

The family gathers. Friends from school arrive and everybody gathers to sing “Happy Birthday”; there’s no place like home.

However, for one young lady, this year birthday celebrations will be hundreds of miles away from home, at the other side of the world, away from family, friends and relatives.

Puerto Rico’s Adriana Diaz will celebrate her 12th birthday on Wednesday 31st October 2012, not at home in Utuado but in Mangilao.

She will be totally embroiled in the ITTF Challenge which starts in Guam on Saturday 27th October and concludes on Sunday 4th November 2012.....

The Prized Possession, the Precious Shirt, Still a Perfect Fit Three Years Hence

Three years ago in 2009 the first ITTF World Hopes Team, for players born in 1997 and 1998, was selected.

It was a new venture; moreover, it was an initiative that has proved outstanding successful and one that continues to grow and develop.

Measuring success, when any form of development is concerned, is often difficult to quantify; however, one factor in particular highlights the level of reverence in which the ITTF Hopes Programme is held.

It is the precious shirt and five players who were awarded that precious shirt in 2009 will be in action at the 2012 ITTF Cadet Challenge.....

A First and a Break with Tradition, Guam Welcomes ITTF Cadet Challenge

A highly successful venture into the hotbed of international table tennis, with the staging of an ITTF Junior Circuit event in April 2011, Guam, now takes a further step forward.

Mangilao, the Pacific island's principal town, will host the ITTF Cadet Challenge from Saturday 27th October to Sunday 4th November 2012.

A well established competition but by holding the event in Guam, it is very much a first and a break from tradition.

It is the first time that the continent of Oceania has staged the competition and it is a break from tradition. ....
