The host nation enjoyed success after success in the Men’s and Women’s Doubles events at the GAC GROUP 2012 ITTF World Tour China Open in Shanghai on Saturday 26th May.

In the Men’s Doubles there was no stopping Ma Lin and Zhang Jike, the top seeds. They duly booked their place in the final as did the second seeds Ma Long and Wang Hao. Similarly in the Women’s Doubles Ding Ning and Li Xiaoxia progressed unerringly to the final.

Defeats for celebrated players from the host nation in the third round of proceedings in Shanghai with the surprise demise of Ma Lin and Wang Hao; one round later at the quarter-final stage of proceedings in Shanghai at the GAC GROUP 2012 ITTF World Tour China Open, there were no such hiccups.

Ma Long, Zhang Jike, Xu Xin and Wang Liqin all progressed.

Five players from the People’s Republic of China entered the arena for the Women’s Singles quarter-finals, at the GAC GROUP 2012 ITTF World Tour China Open on Saturday 26th May, four emerged successful.

Ding Ning, Liu Shiwen, Li Xiaoxia and Fan Ying all recorded victories and none was extended the full seven games distance. All recorded most impressive wins.
