A member of the Chinese National Team at the H.I.S. World Championships in 2009, Xu Hui won the Elite Men’s Singles Class at the Safir International Open on Friday 24th February 2012, a tournament which incorporates the Swedish Junior Open
Meanwhile, Li Fen, who in 1998 was a semi-finalist in the Women’s Singles event in the ITTF Pro Tour in the Malaysian city of Kota Kinabalu, won the counterpart Women’s Singles title.

Defeat for Masaki Yoshida, the defending champion but, once again, the Junior Boys’ Singles title at the Swedish Junior and Cadet Open finished in Japanese hands.
The successor to the crown is Asuka Machi, who on Thursday 23rd February, in Örebro, not only ended the reign of the defending champion in the semi-finals; also, he joined forces with his victim, Masaki Yoshida, to clinch the Junior Boys’ Doubles title.

Progress Unchecked, Zhou Yihan Secures Second Consecutive Title |

Winner of the Junior Girls’ Singles title the previous week in the Czech Republic, Singapore’s Zhou Yihan recorded her second consecutive success on this year’s ITTF Junior Circuit, by winning the Junior Girls’ Singles event at the Swedish Junior and Cadet Open in Örebro on Thursday 23rd February 2012.
Seeded no.4, at the final hurdle she accounted for colleague Li Ye, the no.6 seed to claim the top prize on what was a very successful day for Singapore.

Jan-Ove Waldner and Jörgen Persson were very much at the height of their powers, in 1991 in the Japanese city of Chiba, they contested the final of the Men’s Singles event at the World Championships, the latter won and thus reversed the decision of two years earlier in Dortmund.
They were halcyon days for Sweden, in addition they clinched the Men’s Team title and there was to some extent a bonus, Peter Karlsson and Thomas von Scheele won the Men’s Doubles title.
