Chiang Hung-Chieh Maintains his One Hundred Per Cent Record


Chiang Hung-Chieh unbeaten throughout 2006 on the ITTF World Junior Circuit


Chinese Taipei’s Chiang Hung-Chieh won the Junior Boys’ Singles title at the ITTF World Junior Circuit Finals in Vrsac on Sunday 29th October 2006 and in so doing completed 2006 unbeaten in Boys’ Singles events on the ITTF World Junior Circuit.

Earlier in the year he had won at the Safirs International Tournament in Sweden, then he had succeeded in both India and El Salvador; in Serbia he prevailed yet again.

In the final he beat Kenta Matsudaira 11-6, 11-9, 11-5, 11-8.

Yao Yan Wins Girls’ Singles Title at ITTF World Junior Circuit Finals


Yao Yan, the victor in the Girls' Singles event at the ITTF World Junior Circuit Finals


China’s Yao Yan justified her top seeded position in the Girls’ Singles event at the ITTF World Junior Circuit Finals in Vrsac on Sunday 29th October 2006. The winner of the Girls’ Singles titles at the Asian Junior Championships and at the Taiyuan Junior Open, she beat Romania’s Elizabeta Samara in straight games in a high quality final.

Yao Yan won 13-11, 11-8, 13-11, 11-6.

Japan Completes Full House in the Girls’ Events at ITTF World Cadet Challenge


Misaki Morizono, the winner of the Girls' Singles crown at the ITTF World Cadet Challenge


Japan ruled in the girls’ events at the ITTF World Cadet Challenge in Vrsac, Serbia. On Thursday 25th October 2006 they won the team event; three days later their players captured both the Girls’ Singles and Girls’ Doubles crowns.

Misaki Morizono emerged the victor in the Girls’ Singles event beating China’s Shen Yanwen in the final whilst in the Girls’ Doubles Shen Yanwen had again to settle for the silver medal.

Song Shichao Completes a Hat-Trick of Titles at the ITTF World Cadet Challenge


Song Shichao, three titles captured at the ITTF World Cadet Challenge in Vras


China’s Song Shichao proved to be the most successful player on duty at the ITTF World Cadet Challenge in Vrsac, Serbia. Earlier in the week he had been a member of Team Asia who won the Boys’ Team crown; on Sunday 29th October 2006 he added two further titles to his collection.

He won the Boys’ Doubles in partnership with Chinese Taipei’s Chen Chien-An and secured the Boys’ Singles title, beating his doubles partner at the final hurdle.

Chiang Hung-Chieh played positively to succeed at the semi-final stage in Vrsac


Chinese Taipei’s Chiang Hung-Chieh and Japan’s Kenta Matsudaira reached the final of the Boys’ Singles event at the ITTF World Junior Circuit Finals in Vrsac, Serbia when, on the morning of Sunday 29th October 2006, they succeeded at the penultimate stage.

Chiang Hung-Chieh, playing in his usual smooth style, beat China’s Lin Chen whilst Kenta Matsudaira, innovative, beat France’s Abdel-Kader Salifou.

Elizabeta Samara in determined mood at the ITTF World Junior Circuit Finals


It was the friendly semi-finals in the Girls’ Singles event at the ITTF World Junior Circuit Finals in Vrsac on Sunday 29th October 2006, with Romanian and Chinese players confronting each other to determine who would proceed to contest the gold medal match.

Elizabeta Samara won the Romanian duel beating Daniela Dodean 10-12, 11-8, 5-11, 11-7, 4-11, 11-2, 11-8 whilst Yao Yan overcame Wen Jia in the all-Chinese duel, she won 15-17, 11-9, 11-6, 11-5, 11-4.
