It is not a big surprise for us to know that once again table tennis attracted an amazing 255 million television viewers (cumulative audience) during the week of the 2006 LIEBHERR World Team Championships in Bremen.

What is interesting to note is that Chinese fans do not have a preference between men's and women's matches, which is not the case in some other parts of the world where men's matches are favoured.

Two international feeds provided worldwide television coverage for twelve hours per day of the 2006 LIEBHERR World Team Table Tennis Championships that concluded in Bremen, Germany on Monday 1st May 2006 after eight days of intense competition.

Furthermore, as a result of a highlights package produced by TMS International, the company responsible for marketing the activities of the International Table Tennis Federation, the coverage of the event has proved more extensive than has ever previously been experienced for a World Championships.

The immediate reaction is that the 2006 LIEBHERR World Team Table Tennis Championships, held in Bremen, Germany has been an outstanding success, not only a success for China who retained their men’s and women’s team titles but also for the sport in general.
