Preparing for the World Cadet Challenge, Team North America travelled to Otocec earlier than in previous years; more days to practise and more time to overcome jet lag.
They joined the World Hopes Team, Team Africa and hosts Slovenia is a one week training and acclimatization camp prior to the official start of the programme.
Training started on Monday 21st October 2013; the World Cadet Challenge commences officially on Saturday 26th October.
Perfect Setting The Otocec Hotel Sport provided a perfect setting with the tournament facilities on site; this combined with excellent outdoor and indoor training facilities plus perfect weather afforded a perfect setting for the camp prior to the competition.
Add to that the excellent hospitality of the Slovenian hosts and the team prepared in five star conditions.
Girls’ Team In Otocec, the North America's Girls’ Team comprises Angela Guan, Amy Wang, Cherry Zheng and Jiabao Liu; the coach is Emilia Gheorghe.
Predictions are difficult; the team should be competitive with the teams from the other continents with the exception of Asia.
Optimistic Coach Coach of the Boys' Team, Max Surprenant is optimistic.
"We have a good team, excellent preparation; we will try our best to make at least the semis”, he said. “Our guys are motivated, they have worked hard, I have to think we can do it."
Kanak Jha, Kunal Chodri, Michael Luo and Alexander Moran make up North America's ambitious crew.
Celebrated Coach The team now looks forward to the final days before the competition and the official World Cadet Training Camp under the leadership of famous name.
It is the man who for many years sat courtside advising Timo Boll, the vastly experienced Istvan Korpa, a table tennis legend.
