Asian Names Prominent in Newly Qualified Blue Badge Umpires List

Eight new names, to add to the list of Blue Badge Umpires, were announced by the Umpires and Referees Committee of the International Table Tennis Federation on Tuesday 3rd April 2012.
No less than five of the successful candidates to gain the highest award in officiating are from India.
Rohit Shantaram, Krishna Kumar Rokkam, Jiban Baila Samal, Arundhati Brahmachari and Baskar Thiruverkaadu are the five successful Indian candidates.
Five of the eight from India; in fact seven of the eight are from the continent of Asia.
Korea and Singapore Represented Korea’s Lee Soon Ju and Singapore’s Christabel Ko Jun Li have also secured the prestigious award; the one no-Asian is from Europe.
European Representative Maria del Carmen Turrado Aldonza from Spain completes the list of those who succeeded during the evaluation period which commenced on Sunday 1st January 2012 and cover the first three months of the year.
Total The new appointees mean that there is now a total of 223 umpires who possess the Blue Badge.
