Class told in the Girls’ Team event at the Malta Junior Open in Cottonera on Thursday 18th March 2010, with the top seeded Singaporean partnership of Isabelle Li and Sylvia Look securing gold.
They were in commanding form from start to finish, winning every fixture by three matches to nil. Throughout the whole event they proved themselves a class apart.
It was only in the final against France that they were in any danger of conceding an individual match.
Close Doubles After Sylvia Look had beaten Sara Berge in three straight games and Isabelle Li had performed likewise in opposition to Eva Andorin, the latter in partnership with Andrea Quelen extended the Singaporeans the full five match distance.
Cadet Success for France A convincing junior final but the Cadet Girls’ team final was much closer.
France beat Israel by three matches to two with Nicole Trosman impressive for the eventual silver medallists.
She beat both Fanny Le Melledo and Julie Kuy but alas for Israel there was no further success.
Julie Kuy and Fanny Le Melledo both defeated Neli Shoifer with doubles success in the third match of the contest turning matters in French favour.
More Success for France and Success for Austria Meanwhile, in the consolation team events, Austria (Marianne Schwaiger, Melanie Luginger) won the Girls’ team title finishing ahead of Cyprus (Natali Pantelli, Eleftheria Panagiotou) with France `B’ securing the counterpart Cadet Girls’ Team crown.
At the final hurdle the duo of Pauline Chasselin and Solene Haushalter defeated Spain’s Nora Escartin and Laura Ramirez.
