A new era dawns for table tennis in Oceania; that is the exciting situation in the southern hemisphere following a series of recent agreements.

The Oceania Table Tennis Federation has recently signed a three year television contract with Fox Sports in Australia for 2010 to 2012 and has entered into a long term tripartite agreement with the International Table Tennis Federation and with TMS International.

Furthermore, to enhance the image of table tennis within Oceania, the Oceania Table Tennis Federation will very soon be able to use the International Table Tennis Federation to help better brand and commercialize its activities, by changing its name to ITTF-Oceania.

Commercial Approach
There is a clear focus on commercialising table tennis in the Oceania region; with the above mentioned agreements in place the tools are now available to enhance the professionalism of the major events within Oceania; this will begin with the Oceania Cup in 2011.

The 2011 Oceania Cup will see a level of commercialization that has never been seen before in the region; for the first time the event will have a guaranteed television broadcasts which is a massive boost for sponsorship possibilities for both ITTF-Oceania and the players concerned.

Prize Money
Meanwhile, the total prize money for the 2011 Oceania Cup will be at least AUD20,000; which is far above any other previous prize money that has been offered in the region; this is a major step forward for the athletes of Oceania, as they will now have the opportunity to take home a substantial pay cheque.

Very shortly applications will invited to host the 2011 Oceania Cup; for a potential host, the event provides an attractive package and lucrative possibilities.

No doubt the best of the best from within Oceania will come forward requesting to host this event, being rewarded for hosting the first fully professional event within Oceania is surely an opportunity to good to miss.

Vote of Thanks
Special thanks must go to both International Table Tennis Federation and TMS International for their continued guidance, support and foresight that will enable ITTF-Oceania to take their image and profile to a new level.

It is the dawn of a new era for table tennis in Oceania, exciting times await for all involved.
