OFFICIAL ANNOUNCEMENT REGARDING AUTHORISATION LISTS 29 AND 29B

IMPORTANT NOTE: REGARDING LIST 29, THE ONLY CHANGE IS THE EXPIRY DATE BEING EXTENDED TO 31 MARCH 2009. ALL OTHER CONDITIONS ON THE LIST REMAIN THE SAME. THOSE RACKET COVERINGS THAT EXPIRED ON 1 JULY 2008 ARE EXPIRED. THOSE RACKET COVERINGS THAT WERE VALID ON 30 SEPTEMBER 2008 REMAIN VALID TILL 31 MARCH 2009.

In order to streamline the application of the ITTF’s List of Authorised Racket Covering (LARC), the ITTF’s Executive Committee (EC) at its meeting held on 12 October 2008 in agreement with the Equipment Committee Chairman, has decided to implement the LARC as follows:
Whereas the Manufacturers wish to have a new approved racket covering to be used immediately by the players; and Whereas the players wish to have a transition period for racket coverings removed from the list by delaying the implementation of the LARC;
It was therefore decided by the EC that all future LARCs will be implemented as follows:
The LARC will be published on 1 April and will come into effect on 1 July of the same year, with the provision that any NEW racket covering appearing on the list will be effective immediately (can be used by the players).
The second, so-called B list, will be published on 1 October and will come into effect on 1 January of the next year, with the provision that any NEW racket covering appearing on the list will be effective immediately.
The above provisions provide the manufacturers with immediate effect the use of NEW racket coverings added to the LARC, while providing the players with a 3-month period to find a new racket covering to replace the one that has been removed from the list.
As an exceptional measure, and to apply the above-mentioned policy fairly for all concerned, the current LARC No.29 and No.29B will be effective as follows:
List 29 will be valid till 31 March 2009
List 29B will be valid till 30 June 2009
The new LARC No. 30 will be published on 1 April 2009 and will come into effect on 1 July 2009, with the provision that any NEW racket covering on the list will be effective immediately.
This means that all NEW racket coverings that have appeared on list 29B are effective immediately. It also means that racket coverings that have been removed from list 29 and do not appear on list 29B will retain their validity until 31 March 2009. These racket coverings will not be valid as of 1 April 2009 unless they are reinstated on list No.30.
As of list No.30, the LARC will be streamlined according to points 1, 2 and 3 above.
