Zhengding Training Centre Proves the Perfect Home for North Americans |

The scenario is simple, if you want to learn, if you want to improve, visit the best and take advice from the best.
It is common sense and it is exactly the policy adopted recently by the North American Table Tennis Union.
Supported by the ITTF/NATTU Development Programme, a group comprising 16 players and six coaches from the continent visited the Zhengding Training Centre in Hebei from Monday 2nd to Friday 13th August 2010.
Hebei is approximately two hours by train from China’s capital city, Beijing. |

Ping London Gives Table Tennis a New Boost as Olympics Loom |

Table Tennis is enjoying a new high; it would seem that it is a boom time for the sport.
Furthermore, that is good news for the year 2012, the year when the country where the sport was born will host the Olympic Games.
There is an increased interest and it would seem there may be a plethora of volunteers ready to lend a hand in east London’s Excel Arena. |

ITTF Coach Accreditation System Introduced to United States |

A total of 23 coaches from throughout the United States of America are now present at the US Olympic Committee Headquarters in Colorado Springs.
It is an impressive venue, housing many United States sports as well as some of the world’s elite sports scientists, and administrators. |

Fiji Hosts Successful Olympic Solidarity Course |

Situated in the South Pacific, Fiji was the home for an Olympic Solidarity course from Tuesday 24th August to Saturday 4th September.
Lautoka, the second largest city in the islands and located on the west coast of the principal island of Viti Levu, hosted the course. Scott Houston, the Oceania Development Officer, was the expert on duty.
The course was conducted over an action packed eleven days; in addition to the Fiji Open Championships, an ITTF/PTT Level One Coaches Course plus Training Sessions for the talented junior athletes were carried out.

Australian Women’s Table Tennis Set to Grow Like the Phoenix from the Ashes |

A member of the Australian team at the Volkswagen World Junior Championships in the Colombian city of Cartagena de Indias in December 2009, 18 year Ashleigh Stevenson is a positive and resolute young lady.
Not only is “Ash” an international table tennis player of note, she is determined to promote the sport in her country and in particular promote the female cause.

Headquarters Central to Successful Course in Guatemala |

Situated in Central America with the country and the capital city bearing the same name, Guatemala’s principal city was the home for an ITTF/PTT Level One Coaches Course and Training Camp from Saturday 28th August to Wednesday 1st September 2010.
The expert on duty was Cuba’s Evelio Alvarez.

Experience Combined with No Experience Provides Successful Formula |

There are those people who are just happy to follow, to obey instructions and have a quiet life, no responsibilities, nothing; conversely, there are those who take initiatives, they try new ideas, they adopt the leadership role.
Such a person who adopts the latter role is Argentina’s Alejandra Gabaglio.
Promoting table tennis in general, she is very much at the forefront; especially when it comes to the cause of women in table tennis whether it be on a world, continental or national stage. |

Michael Brown from Australia and the host nation's Carolyn Xuan Li were crowned respective Men's and Women's Singles champions. |

Positive Signs for South Pacific, Fiji Open Attracts Record Entries |

A record entry of 86 players competed in the Fiji Open Championships which commenced on Thursday 26th August and concluded on Sunday 29 August 2010.
Lautoka, situated in the west of the island, hosted the event for the first time ever.
