Action Packed Day at Hello Future Conference

The second day of proceedings, Saturday 1st May 2010, proved to be an action packed day at the ITTF Hello Future Conference in Barcelona, Spain. Special key note speakers as well as a myriad of topics with plenty of interaction were the order of the day.

Presentations were made by: Jordi Serra (ITTF Executive Director - Operations and Olympic Games), Mikael Andersson, (ITTF Executive Director - Education and Training), Dr Georg Niklas (ESN Company), Glenn Tepper (ITTF Executive Director – Development), Henric Saabey, (Danish Television Producer), Miguel Crespo, (International Tennis Federation Director of Coaching and Development), Phillip Kan, (former Volkswagen Sponsorship Manager in China) and last but by no means least Swedish former World champions, Jörgen Persson and Peter Karlsson.

Barcelona to Stage ITTF Hello Future Conference

Organised by the ITTF Education and Training Department a conference entitled “Hello Future” will be staged in the Spanish city of Barcelona from Friday 30th April to Sunday 2nd May 2010.

Under the direction of Mikael Andersson, Executive Director Education and Training, a wide ranging programme is on offer.

The Conference is open to all interested parties.

Continental, regional and national associations are most welcome as are table tennis manufacturers, ITTF sponsors, marketing partners and the media.

Inspired by Aspire, Close Links Forged Between Slovenia and Qatar

Achievement, Synergy, Professionalism, Integrity, Respect and Excellence; take the first letter of each word and you have Aspire, the Academy for Sports Excellence in Doha, the capital city of Qatar.

Aspire is a state-of-the-art emporium for sport with world class coaches being employed.

Notable names like Sweden’s Jörgen Persson and Stellan Bengtsson have been the mentors for table tennis; at the moment the incumbent head coach is Germany’s Steffen Fetzner.

Closing Date for Submission of Abstracts: Monday 5th January 2009

 1/2/2009       H.I.S. World Table Tennis Championships

The 11th ITTF Sports Science Congress, which precedes the 50th World Table Tennis Championships in Yokohama, Japan will be held from Saturday 25th to Monday 27th April 2009.

Preparations are now in an advanced state with the deadline for the submission of abstracts being Monday 5th January 2009.

Authors will be notified on Sunday 1st February 2009 with the closing date for the full papers being one month later on Sunday 1st March 2009.

ITTF Sports Science Congress in Yokohama

The 11th ITTF Sports Science Congress will be held in Yokohama from 25th to 27th April 2009 preceding the World Table Tennis Championship. The deadline to submit abstracts is 5th January. This congress is supported by the ITTF Sports Science Committee and planned by JTTA Sports and Medical Science Committee.

Female Sport Managers "Brain-Storm" in the Olympic Capital

Women from 45 countries came to Lausanne, Switzerland to learn, exchange experiences and knowledge gained about marketing and communication in sport.

The four day seminar organized by the International Academy of Sport Science and Technology (AISTS) in collaboration with the Olympic Solidarity, the IOC, the ITTF and the City of Lausanne was concluded with a table tennis afternoon and a visit to the ITTF headquarters.

Future Masters of Advanced Studies Fascinated by Table Tennis

During their recent visit at the ITTF headquarters, a class of students from the International Academy of Sports and Technology was shown how the former mild social diversion has become a world class sport featuring great athleticism.

On the tour of the ITTF Museum, Curator Chuck Hoey underlined his flair for entertainment and his value as a table tennis ambassador.

African Coaches May Apply for Course in Germany

Thanks to the support of the German Table Tennis Association, the University of Leipzig, Germany, offers a table tennis course in English for African coaches from 5th May to 31st July 2008.
Selected candidates will receive formal classroom and practical lessons delivered by teachers from the Sport Science Faculty.
The deadline for applications is 31st March 2008.

Health Can’t Wait

The increasing use of technology over the years has meant that sport has become faster; in sports where a ball is used the spherical object travels quicker, table tennis is no exception. Blades and racket coverings that enable to a player to hit the ball faster, impart more spin have been constantly developed and, of course, for over two decades players have used `speed glue’ to enhance the speed that can be imparted on a table tennis table.
