Shahrokh Shahnazi Appointed ITTF Special Advisor for Olympic Games and Academies |

Vice President of the Asian Table Tennis Union, Iran’s Shahrokh Shahnazi, has been appointed as the ITTF Special Advisor for Olympic Games and Academies and, in addition, a member of President’s Advisory Council.
The appointments were announced at the Annual General Meeting of the International Table Tennis Federation on Wednesday 15th May 2013, staged on the occasion of the LIEBHERR World Championships in Paris.
Shahrokh Shahnazi, who has served for over 20 years in various capacities within the Asian Table Tennis Union and the International Table Tennis Federation; the youngest member of the President’s Advisory Council, it is his vast experience that prompted the appointments. |

Samaranch Memorial and Olympic Sculpture Park Opened in Tianjin |

Adham Sharara, ITTF President, alongside Yang Ho Cho, the President of the Korea Table Tennis Association and Chairman of Korean Airlines, were two of the distinguished guests present at the opening of the Samaranch Memorial in the Chinese city of Tianjin on Sunday 21st April 2013.
In memory of Juan Antonio Samaranch, the ceremony took place exactly three years after the death of the former President of the International Olympic Committee.
He passed away on Saturday 21st April 2010, he was 89 years old.

London Now a Memory, Focus of Attention Turns to Brazil, to Rio de Janeiro |

Memories of the London 2012 Olympic Games continue to linger but now thoughts turn towards Brazil and the city of Rio de Janeiro, the home for the 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
Recently on Monday 11th and Tuesday 12th March 2013, Neil Harwood, ITTF Deputy President and Raul Calin, Events and Olympic Games Expert, visited Rio de Janeiro.
They met Rodrigo Garcia, Head of Sport Competitions and Renata Simoes, Sports Management Coordinator, alongside other members of the Organising Committee’s staff. |

San-Ei, Table Tennis Provider for Olympic and Paralympic Games 2016 |

Japanese Table Tennis manufacturer, San-Ei, has been confirmed by the International Table Tennis Federation as the official table provider for the table tennis events at the Rio de Janeiro 2016 Olympic Games and Paralympic Games.
The table tennis events will be staged in extensive Riocentro pavilion in Barra da Tijuca, approximately one hour from the centre of Rio de Janeiro from Saturday 6th to Wednesday 17th August 2016.
A proven venue for table tennis it hosted the table tennis competitions at the Pan American Games in 2007 and the World Veteran Championships one year later in 2008. |

Meet Nanjinglele, the Mascot for the Nanjing 2014 Youth Olympic Games |

Second Youth Olympic Games
The Mascot for the table tennis events at the 2nd Youth Olympic Games, to be staged in the Chinese city of Nanjing from Sunday 17th to Sunday 28th August 2014, has been announced.
Nanjinglele is the name. A successful inaugural Youth Olympic Games in Singapore, the format in Nanjing will very much follow the pattern set in 2010. Three events will be staged, namely: Boys’ Singles, Girls’ Singles and Mixed Team.
In resplendent colours, Nanjinglele will be present to support and add to what promises to be an electric atmosphere. |

China Short Listed for Prestigious Laureus World Sports Team Award |

Olympic Games
Simply they could not have done better; gold in the Men’s and Women’s Team events, gold and silver in the Men’s and Women’s Singles competitions.
China, as four years earlier on home soil in Beijing, won every medal available in the table tennis arena at the London 2012 Olympic Games.
The result is that the Chinese National Table Team has been nominated for the “Team of the Year” award at the prestigious Laureus World Sports Awards, to be held in the Brazilian city of Rio de Janeiro, on Monday 11th March 2013. |

Whatever the location, whatever the city or the country the fans in there in numbers; they are there in numbers when the China is in action, whether it be at the World Championships, the World Cup or the ITTF World Tour.
The recent ITTF 2013 World Tour Qatar Open, which came to a conclusion in Doha on Sunday 24th February, illustrated the point indelibly; Chinese supporters came in force to support and pay home to their idols.
Simply the likes of Ma Long and Ding Ning who won the respective Men’s and Women’s Singles titles in the Gulf state are superstars; a fact reflected by television figures. |

Hebei Tinsue Official Flooring Sponsor for Nanjing Youth Olympic Games |

The largest manufacturer of sports flooring in China, the Hebei Tinsue Floor Technology Company Ltd will be the official sports floor supplier for the table tennis events at the 2014 Nanjing Youth Olympic Games.
In addition, Tinsue will provide the flooring for the Continental Championships and Continental Cups in Africa, North America, Latin America and Oceania for 2013 and 2014.
Tinsue, who in 2010 became the first Chinese Sports flooring company to sponsor International Table Tennis Federation events, was also the official sports floor supplier at the recently concluded 2012 London Olympic Games table tennis event.
