WANG
Ligin/YAN Sen (CHN)
World
Championships 2001, Osaka Sydney
Olympics 2000: Wang/Yan
took the Swedish title Skövde,
Sweden, 25 November 2001. WANG
Liqin/YAN Sen (CHN) took the Swedish title in men’s doubles, and later
on Sunday WANG Liqin can complete his journey to Sweden by winning the
final in men’s singles as well. WANG/YAN
met the Hongkong pair CHEUNG Yuk/LEUNG Chu Yan in the final. The Chinese
took the lead 7-0 in the first game and every looked easy. The Hongkong
pair though got their game going and they actually had their chances
against the World Champion. The
Chinese won 4-2, but the Hongkong pair though can look back on a good
tournament and with the Pro Tour points they earned in Sweden they now
have a good chance to qualify for the Grand Finals in China in January. WANG
and YAN are probably going to the finals as well. Even if they should not be in top 8 after the Farum Danish Open they will
probably go as the best ranked pair from the host association. The
women’s doubles final was a Chinese matter with BAI Yang/YANG Ying
beating GUO Yan/JIANG Huajun. |
