Second time winners

Fort Lauderdale, USA, 7 July 2001.  CHIANG Peng-Lung and CHANG Yuan-Su (TPE) took their second ITTF Pro Tour title in men’s doubles this year winning the final at the US Open against Lucjan BLASZCZYK (POL)/Kalinikos KREANGA (GRE). CHIANG/CHANG also won Qatar Open in April.

BLASZCZYK and KREANGA normally don’t play together but here in Fort Lauderdale they have performed extremely well. In the final though they never had a chance. The Taipei Chinese were attacking them from the first point and the mixed pair never found their rhythm.

“This is – from what I can remember – the worst double I ever played. We never got into any rallies with them because they were returning our services so well. It was just serve and hit - they just killed us”, says Lucjan BLASZCYK who in spite of the defeat have no complaints. He reached the final at the Brazilian Open last week and here at the US Open with two different partners (Trinko KEEN (NED) and Kalinikos KREANGA (GRE)
